#Michael is aiming to set the record for biggest music biopic opening weekend with a $70 million-plus debut.

Some exhibitors are predicting the final number will be closer to $80 million, far above 2018’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” ($51 million) and 2015’s “Straight Outta Compton” ($60 million, the current record holder).

“Michael” is expected to be even bigger internationally. It’s projected to earn $75 million to $80 million from 82 markets. Globally, the film should end up with a stellar $140 million to $150 million (or more) by Sunday.
