I’m a big believer that to up the amount you read, it’s not necessarily about sitting down and reading for hours on end. Rather, it’s about taking little chunks of time to read instead of scroll/what have you. For example, reading while my boyfriend puts his face on is perfect.
dying in the Iliad you get a six line narrative about how you were the prettiest nicest most lovely boy who Diomedes master of the war cry ever spilt in half. dying in the odyssey you get a one line mention of how Odysseus was like "damn" when Scylla ate your whole head off
My parents technically upsized, but it’s a lake house and it now has the capacity to host all of the kids and our families/partners so it was a rational decision
Fascinating WSJ story showing that many Booomers are not only not downsizing their homes, they're instead upsizing and getting large ones. Empty-nest baby boomers own 28% of U.S. homes with three bedrooms compared with 16% for millennials with children.

Samantha Morton on the reactions to her performance in ‘THE ODYSSEY’:
“I’ve had ups and downs in my career — you work for a bit and then you’re not working for a bit. You are criticized for your physicality. It’s a tricky game. Even meeting [Christopher Nolan] was enough; everything else is very special, very personal. It validates the fact that I’m good at what I do and I care. I’m very grateful and I take it very seriously.”

@TiltingatM3 The BF and I were talking about this on the bus home; we felt like we didn’t understand Calypso’s motivations at all? It just felt like, “Why??”
@ArmandDoma Point taken, but killing the suitors was basically an act of civil war. They were mostly the sons of the richest and most powerful people in the kingdom!
@lordesghoul Reallll; other than my two besties from middle school (with whom I lived for two years here) it feels like all of my friends are queer men. Which is great and fine but also reminds me of when I went to Boys State in high school and was desperate to return to civilization, LMAO
@shahahahahaaaha I like fun little stories while I cook, clean, fold laundry, or ride the train. Similar to an audiobook, but it’s less of a commitment
The Hill: Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) threatens to leave the Democratic Party if it turns its back on Israel
“If our party ever becomes — and just makes it official — the anti-Israel party, that’s when I would leave because that’s been a moral clarity for me,” Fetterman said during an interview at the Hill Nation Summit in Washington.
