I welcome the commencement of construction of the $12 million Abuja Centre for Entrepreneurship, being developed at the SMEDAN Industrial Development Centre in Idu, Abuja, with support from the Republic of Korea through KOICA @KorEmbNigeria and in partnership with SMEDAN @SMEDANGov and UNDP @UNDPNigeria.

The decisions we have taken to reposition Nigeria’s oil and gas sector are beginning to bear fruit.

Since assuming office, I have signed a series of Presidential Directives and Executive Orders to make investment in Nigeria more competitive, reduce the cost and time required to develop projects, provide greater certainty to investors and ensure that our natural resources deliver greater value to our people.

One of those reforms introduced specific incentives to unlock onshore and shallow-water gas projects that had remained undeveloped for years.

Today, we are seeing the result.

AMNI International and TotalEnergies have taken an $800 million Final Investment Decision to develop the Ima Gas Field, discovered in 1973 and left underground for more than fifty years.

For Nigerians, this means work for our engineers, technicians and contractors. It means opportunities for Nigerian businesses, jobs and economic activity in our host communities, and more export earnings for our country.

AMNI, a Nigerian company, holds the majority interest in the project. Around 60% of the development workforce is expected to come from the host communities.

Ima is expected to produce about 350 million cubic feet of gas every day at peak and supply about one-third of the gas required for the expansion of Nigeria LNG.

This is what our reforms are intended to achieve, to move Nigeria’s resources from potential to production and translate them into jobs, incomes and opportunity for our people.

Earlier this month, while flying on a route not yet covered by any Nigerian airline, I gave feedback to Lufthansa German Airlines, the carrier that flew me, to consider serving Nigerian food on its Nigerian routes. And within weeks, Lufthansa is now serving Akpu Fufu (made from fermented cassava) with Oha Soup for the first time. This is commendable!

Taking feedback and acting on it promptly reflects the German efficiency our world has come to know and admire.

The best way for you, as a Nigerian citizen, to rebrand Nigeria positively is by never being ashamed of promoting your culture and asserting it wherever you find yourself, whether through your name, accent, sartorial tastes or gastronomy.

It doesn't have to be from your ethnicity. As long as it is authentically Nigerian, please do your best to represent and project our culture positively to the world.

You have given these words true meaning in my life. You have stood by my side through every season.

The burdens that were mine to bear often found their way onto your shoulders. The thoughts I could not put into words somehow found their way to you.

In difficult times, when the future was uncertain, you stayed calm beside me and prayed with me.

On August 27, I met with the Governors of our 36 States, and we agreed on a clear objective that from October 1, more Nigerians should begin to see measurable reductions in transportation costs.

An implementation committee for the National Affordable CNG Transit Programme was subsequently established under the auspices of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum @NGFSecretariat, chaired by the Governor of Kwara State and Chairman of the Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq @RealAARahman.

I am aware of the considerable work already underway by the committee, PI-CNG & EV, the States, and other critical stakeholders to identify priority transport corridors, determine appropriate interventions, and put the necessary arrangements in place.

This work has become even more urgent in the face of the current global energy crisis.

Final post on Peter Obi and I'll shift my attention to other matters temporarily, assuming Obidients won't provoke me again...

When you see Peter Obi talking about taxation, especially during the tax reform bills conversation last year and the year before, with the way he was lambasting President Tinubu and accusing him of taxing poverty, you'll think he gave tax exemption to ndi Anambra for the eight years he was our governor.

On the contrary, Mr. Peter Obi imposed high levies and taxes on struggling traders in such an arbitrary way to the point that market women had to protest to the government house in Agu Awka.

In this video, you can see a trader complaining that Obi was taxing them N9,600 per individual. To contextualise this, in 2011 Nigeria's minimum wage was increased to N18,000. So, Obi was trying to collect more than 50% of the minimum wage as tax from market women including petty traders.

This is the same Peter Obi that is fond of telling you he lifted people out of poverty.

In the video you can see Obi's SSG, Chief Oseloka Obaze trying to address the women but they insisted on hearing directly from Obi.

Despite this high levies, most of the IGR eventually found their way into private pockets.

Well, I'm glad a lot of people now know some truths about Obi's governance in Anambra State.

Before I move away temporarily from Peter Obi's past (now that we agree that everyone has a past that can be scrutinised), let me drop two more insights that I'm very certain most people were not aware of.

Peter Obi appointed his uncle from Agulu (late Chief Sylvester Nwobu-Alor) as Special Adviser on Parks and Markets on becoming Governor of Anambra State.

If you understand politics in the States, anyone who is Special Adviser on Parks and Markets is on top of IGR on the parks and markets.

So, Mr. Peter Obi put his uncle and mentor, who is a veteran politician in charge of Parks and Markets.

Coincidentally, despite the population of Anambra increasing, economic activities increasing including expansion of markets and motor parks with higher levies collected from traders and transporters, Anambra's officially reported IGR was largely crawling at snail speed for 8 years of Obi's administration when compared to what Obi inherited from Dr. Chris Ngige (you can fact-check me). When Obiano came in, official IGR doubled in one year.

Connect the dots.

As far back as June 2007 when Obi was temporarily out of office, there was already an accusation against Obi that he collects a minimum of N500,000 in raw cash monthly from each revenue contractor assigned to major parks and markets across the state.

When Obi returned as Governor, he returned Chief Nwobu Alor as SA Parks and Markets and the practice continued.

So, whenever Obi goes on those his sanctimonious sermons of "if you find any kobo of Anambra money missing under him he'll stop campaigning" I simply shake my head in amusement.

How do you know if Anambra money is missing? Did Obi give monthly audited accounts of inflows and expenditures? Did he tell anyone how much FAAC that accrued to LGAs that he spent without appropriation? So, he sends you on an errand he knows you cannot embark on. Let's assume you want to go and verify, where will you start from? 😂

So, it's only Obiano and Soludo that he can tell go and verify and they will access the records and unmask him. Obiano wasn't ready to fight dirty, but unfortunately for Obi, Charlie Nwa Mgbafor is a different ball game as he has found out.

Right from the beginning, I have never been carried away by Obi's holier than thou posturing. I have always told anyone who cared to listen that Obi was Ome na cash. Thank God his aide was caught in one of those cash movement missions.

Let me stop here. The next post will be about Obi and taxation and then I'll cease fire until the spirit moves me again.
