February 23rd has been established as Lee Jordan Day in Takoma Park. One of the most influential residents in Takoma Park history, Jordan was a mentor, role model, and inspiration across racial lines for generations of #TKPK children. #blackhistorymonth2025

We always like to start #BlackHistoryMonth off with some TPPD history - Tony Fisher was the first African American Police Chief for TPPD; he served from 1983-1993. Fisher said Takoma Park was “an identifiable community” and “there was a feeling of identity & closeness among the people in Takoma Park.”
