Father of my beautiful daughters. Husband of my amazing wife. Texas Chief of Police. Retired Naval Intelligence Officer. Texas Tech MBA. Opinions are my own.
Lot of rain, lot of wind and Hurricane Hanna makes landfall to our south. Many roads in and around Rockport are flooded. Avoid travel. Stay indoors. Monitor weather broadcasts. Stay safe!
We encourage everyone to wear a mask in public, social distance, & travel as little as possible. As one of the 5 who’ve battled the virus over the last week, I can say for sure, you want to avoid catching it. Stay safe & stay well!
After est. 30K visited RKPT over July 4th we’ve had 5 officers and a civilian employee test positive for COVID-19. 3 more officers and another civilian await results. We’ve taken measures to protect public & prevent further spread.
Today, 2 McAllen Police officers were killed in the line of duty. Our City extends its deepest condolences to McAllen PD & to the families of OFC Edelmiro Garza & OFC Ismael Chavez. McAllen is hurting & our hearts & prayers go out to them during this difficult time

@KenWalker_IACP@TheIACP@Rausch4IACP2020 Congrats Chief! Thank you for mentoring me throughout my career...all the way back to promoting me to Corporal in the 90s at @LubbockPolice. I look forward to your continued leadership in IACP and across the law enforcement profession.
I personally thank every Rockport citizen for the respect shown as people with views from across the spectrum enjoyed their 1st Amendment rights yesterday evening in our great city. Respect for each other must be the foundation for successful solutions to our nation’s issues.
Chief Acevedo nails it in this opinion piece. George Floyd’s death was undeniable wrong, and the officers responsible must be held accountable. Burning down American cities dishonors Mr. Floyd’s life and solves nothing. https://t.co/Pwv1KTsSDo
Please keep Houston PD Tactical Flight Officer Jason Knox and his family and all of Houston PD in your thoughts and prayers. Officer Knox was killed early this morning in a helicopter crash.
Officer Jason Knox, 35, was sworn in as a HPD officer in June 2012.
He was assigned to the Midwest Patrol Division and the Office of Public Affairs before joining the Air & Marine Division in January 2019.
He will be missed.
Very tragic news out of San Marcus this morning. Please keep these officers, their families and all of SMPD in you thoughts and prayers. https://t.co/N7AwojSwIb
Good opinion piece. Navy CAPT Brett Crozier should have raised his concerns directly, and discretely, to Navy leadership. Tough lesson in leadership. https://t.co/6tVKJNHbq6
