Chiefs head coach Andy Reid confirms and acknowledges the right tackle position is an open competition. He said he feels good about whomever wins.
Reid made it sound like Jaylon Moore will get the first crack. Other candidates should include Kahlil Benson and Esa Pole.
Good question. There’s no pads but there’s still competitive football happening. You can evaluate: how well a guy picks up the playbook, if they’re making mental mistakes, work ethic, technique, application of the requested technique for each play, doing the job of blocking the defender they’re supposed to. There’s a lot to evaluate and as a player show to the staff. There’s caveat is that there’s no pads so it’s a partial eval at best. I’ve seen guys rise to 1st string reps by the end of OTAs and then be 3rd string and cut by the end of training camp. 3rd stringer end up making the roster and pushing for a starting role based on training camp and preseason games. Camp is way more important than OTAs but OTAs have value.
Chiefs HC Andy Reid on WR Xavier Worthy: "He's really had a nice camp... He looks stronger. We've put him in a lot of the primary positions, and I thought he did a nice job through all of it."

Equity Sports CEO Chris Cabott, and Chiefs GM Brett Veach and his staff, put the finishing touches on the landmark agreement today.
I’m not trying to disparage anyone, it just the second bad play in a row I saw celebrated on X.
If the receiver has to slow down to adjust for the ball, leading a defender into contact in a non-contact practice, it’s underthrown. A dime would hit the receiver in stride for a TD.
The Chiefs and OT Wanya Morris have agreed to explore trade options, per sources.
Morris, who has 16 starts in three seasons (11 in 2024), would like the chance to play more and Kansas City has tackle depth.
