Your parents won’t be here to watch you grow old. Your partner never knew the little child you once were. And your children may never truly realize how young you were when you raised them.
You are the only person who will witness every version of yourself, from the beginning until the very end. The child you once were, the person you are today, and the person you are still becoming.
So, be gentle with yourself. Take care of yourself.
I love how God uses my love for football and Harry Kane to remind me that even when life doesn’t look promising right now, my breakthrough is still possible. If Kane can finally get his moment, surely mine is coming too. 😭❤️
Underrated life advice: Keep a list of the people who believed in you early. The teacher who pushed you. The boss who took a chance. The friend who told you to go for it. Every now and then, reach out. Update them. And tell them just how much you appreciate what they did for you.
Let me teach you some popular and psychological concepts and their meanings.
1. Schrödinger's Douchebag: Someone who makes an offensive statement and only decides whether they were joking or serious based on how people react. Example: A man insults you, and when you get offended, he says, “Can't you take a joke?”
2. Recency Bias: Judging someone based on their most recent behaviour while ignoring their past actions. Example: Someone who has helped you for years makes one mistake, and you suddenly treat them as a bad person.
3. Sunk Cost Fallacy: Staying in a bad relationship because of the time, money, or effort you have already invested. Example: You know your partner is wrong for you, but you stay because you have spent five years together.
4. Projection: Attributing your own undesirable feelings, motives, or behaviours to someone else. Example: A man who is cheating constantly accuses his partner of infidelity.
5. Intermittent Reinforcement: When unpredictable rewards make a behaviour harder to stop. Example: Someone who treats you badly most of the time but occasionally showers you with affection can make you more attached because you keep hoping for the good moments.
6. Fundamental Attribution Error: Judging someone's character without considering their circumstances. Example: You see someone being rude to a cashier and conclude they are a terrible person without considering that they may be under extreme stress.
I was telling my female colleague from murima that everything my wife owns belongs to me akashangaa sana. Like there's nothing anaeza fanya na mali yake without my approval, even the property she inherited from her father. Huko kikuyuland unafika nyumbani jioni unakunywa strungi juu bibi ameuza ngombe akaleta stock ya duka just because she bought it herself. We thank God for patriarchy.
@KeKirwa Among the Maa, a woman owns nothing. A cow may have been bought with her salary, but culturally, the ownership debate has already been settled.😂Patriarchy has its own accounting standards, bana.
He’s not wrong. Your community is patriarchal; they don’t give a damn about wokeness. Leadership goes hand in hand with family dynamics. Your opponent, Leah Sankaire, is married, very submissive, and knows how to win votes by constantly talking about her husband and how he denied her ownership of her own cows because, apparently, he owns everything Leah owns. You can't tell the Maasai ati wewe uko na simu kubwa, leta watoto na mzee.
@SankeiSaitoti In Masai land, leadership starts at home. If you’re unmarried and can’t speak fluent Maa, you’re basically applying for CEO of a company whose language you don’t understand and whose shareholders don’t recognise you. 😂
1. Our skeletons are wet.
2. Your nose is ALWAYS in your line of sight, but your brain ignores it.
3. When you receive a donated kidney, they don't take out the bad one. They just add the good one in.
4. Your immune system doesn't know you have eyes. Otherwise, it would attack them and make you blind. Injuring one eye can introduce eye bits to the bloodstream and basically give your immune system the knowledge of having eyes. Then it might decide it really fucking hates that and attack your non-injured eye.
5. The quality of the male sperm is responsible for morning sickness, preeclampsia, baby's gender and almost every single pregnancy related issue.
6. You breathe through one nostril at a time. Don't believe me? Put your finger below your nose and try.
7. The brain itself has no nerve endings, so it can't feel pain. That's why patients can be wide awake during brain surgery and made to perform certain actions.
8. That ringing in silence isn't silence. When everything is quiet and you hear a faint ringing? That's your brain listening to its own nervous system. You are hearing yourself functioning.
9. You will never experience your own death. You only experience approaching it... Then nothing. Everyone else gets closure, stories, funerals, and memories. You don't. You never know you've become a memory. From your perspective, the story just stops mid-sentence.
@_lennoxomondi His Majesty shall recover. The throne remains, the crown is intact, and the kingdom’s GDP must not be affected by the departure of one minister. 😂
My CS for Defence has tendered her resignation. She has, ipso facto, been stripped of all royal privileges, titles and honours, and excommunicated from the Kingdom for causing His Majesty untold emotional distress.
The King requests privacy during this difficult time.
It’s not a bragging game it’s a motivation thing. If you can please engage in agriculture, be it crops or animal husbandry.
There was reason why while were young the saying of “agriculture is our backbone” was strong.
Let’s get back to the roots there is now money in offices.
