It's going to take a lot to convince me KC Concepcion is worthy of a second-round pick, never mind a potential first-rounder.
Fits the archetype of Xavier Worthy and Matthew Golden where the talent is there, but the production and efficiency isn't. Which makes me think he will inevitably struggle transitioning to the NFL early on.
Not worth taking a shot on in the first and probably not in the second either.
Vibes are terrible this year. Rashee Rice looks like Daejon Love, Xavier Worthy was invisible all camp, and now you have your RG calling out your LT in pressers and the team getting mad at reporters for it.
I mean this, genuinely, from the deepest depths of my soul.
There isn’t a single aspect of playing receiver that KC Concepcion is better at than Makai Lemon.
I don’t care if Concepcion runs a faster 40
Lemon is significantly better after the catch
He averages more YAC per reception
He forces more missed tackles despite having a higher career ADOT
Lemon is a better deep threat
Lemon is better in the intermediate part of the field
Lemon is better in the short area of the field.
Makai Lemon is a better route runner
He’s a better separator
He’s better vs zone
He’s better vs man
He has better spatial awareness
He has better football IQ
He’s better at reading defenses
He improvises his routes better
He’s better in traffic
He doesn’t shy away from contact
He’s more physical
He has better hands
I don’t need to touch on ball skills because it would be the equivalent of hydrogen bomb vs coughing baby
He’s stronger
He’s tougher
He’s better at every single aspect of playing wide receiver
I’ve done the research. I implore you to do the same.
Talent shines, good receivers produce. Particularly in college.
That’s not to say productive players in college are always productive in the NFL. But look at every good player in the NFL and you’ll see they all produce in college. It’s easier to overcome what’s around you in college than the NFL.
Go back through the history of the NFL and tell me 1 wide receiver prospect who couldn’t produce in college because of QB play that then went on to be good in the NFL? Particularly someone like KC who has a mediocre career production profile and poor efficiency metrics.
