2000 artistes ont été mis au défi de créer une animation 3D de 5 secondes pour faire descendre une balle du haut vers le bas de l’écran.
Toutes les séquences ont ensuite été assemblées pour créer une gigantesque machine à billes collaborative.
@sonicgdavies Jobbee was the man! I worked with him at ACME back in the 90s on Batman Returns and Cliffhanger. I released the source code for Batman Returns a few years ago, which includes his engine code, if anyone is curious how he did it. https://t.co/5t3D4Avcg3
@ectom0rph@IntRschAgncy Erm.. I made it with the C64 Ultimate? I mean I wouldn’t have made it unless the C64U existed. Sure, it doesn’t use any of the enhanced C64U features, and it’ll run on a real Commodore 64, but this really is a C64U game, and made possible by it. Shrug.
Here's a quick update video on my new C64U game, Thin Ice. Hopefully should be published in June, if all goes well. The last time I programmed anything on the Commodore 64 was Action Fighter in 1989. Life sure is strange!
@IntRschAgncy@tNG303 I just tested it running at 64Mhz and it runs exactly the same as it does at 1Mhz. The only difference is the raster border timing is a couple of scanlines in 64Mhz mode :D The game was written to work on real hardware, in PAL or NTSC.
@HamsterBite911 I would love to do something like that. I think making a bigger game, perhaps targeting the expanded memory and power of the C 64 Ultimate would be a lot of fun.
@HonestBath@JudgeDrokk Agreed. I love the limitations personally. It makes keeping a game in scope very easy. I’m looking at the extended hardware on the Ultimate now, thinking about making a game that makes use of the REU and turbo boost.
Level 1 from my new #C64 game, Thin Ice. Getting close to being done. Still placeholder music and SFX, but I've found an amazing SID musician to do the music now! #C64U#Commodore64#retrogames
At this stage of dev, the biggest challenge is space/RAM. I'm constantly having to optimize and juggle code and data. I have 2 main code/data segments. I have 141 bytes left in one, and 1403 bytes in the other. That's it! 😅😂 #c64#c64u#retrogames#commodore
Time to revisit the box art of the original Rick Dangerous and see what it would look like if it truly reflected the cartoony style of the game.
