you don’t compete with someone who’s smarter than you, you learn from them. Humility asks questions, wisdom listens, and love celebrates another person’s gifts instead of envying them. Your calling isn’t to know everything; it’s to grow faithfully with what God has entrusted to you.
Accidentally replied "sounds good" to my boss's email about his father passing away. Didn't read it fully. Just saw his name and auto-responded. Realized my mistake IMMEDIATELY. Spiraled into panic. Sent a follow-up email so apologetic and over-the-top that it was somehow worse. He responded "it's fine, I understand." Couldn't let it go. Sent flowers to his house. He thanked me in person, said it was too much. I nodded and ran away. Avoided him for two days. Then yesterday he pulled me into his office. I thought I was getting fired. He gave me a promotion. Said my "incredibly thoughtful response during his difficult time" showed "real character." I'm the worst person alive and I'm getting a raise.
