To all you #England & #European #football fans visiting our great country for the #WorldCup, it’s #soccer here. Not as an insult, that’s just what we call it…and we didn’t invent the damn word, the #Brits did

As the host country, if your #match experience doesn’t meet your cultural or aesthetic standards, we’re truly sorry. But the fact is, we just don’t really care about the sport much. Of course we’ll be watching & pulling for our boys. And of course there are tons of diehard, passionate soccer fans in #America, but for most of us, it’s in its rightful spot as the 5th most popular American sport

I will say tho, if yall want to keep talking noise every 4 years, you better pray soccer DOESN’T get popular here. If it does, we’ll be running that shit too. You’re lucky most American kids are still picking football, basketball & baseball over soccer. Because if tens of millions of young American athletes DO decide to make soccer their first sport, it’s a wrap. Our women’s team is already dominant, and it’d be only a matter of time before the men are too. But you’ll still have rugby and cricket tho, right?? lol

In case it’s not clear yet, the United States is the undisputed leader in all things sport…and it’s not even close. We have the best athletes, best facilities, best history, best fans, best leagues, best brands, etc. Sports are deeply ingrained in #American culture, and they are as big a part of our national identity as anything else

So, if you want to turn up your noses at our food our fashion our attitudes our accents, etc, go ahead. But you don’t get to be snobby twats about our sports culture. Because it’s exceptional. And miles ahead of yours
