🇨🇳New variant of the Yitian-L air defense system, developed by NORINCO, has been photographed in China.
In its standard configuration, the Yitian-L is built on a Dongfeng Mengshi 4x4 off-road vehicle chassis. It is equipped with a radar system capable of detecting targets at a range of up to 18 km and carries four TY-90 missiles, which have an operational range of 6 km and an altitude reach of up to 4 km.
The TY-90 missile—originally developed in the 1990s for use on helicopters—has served as the basis for numerous air defense system projects:
- Shengong-2: a four-missile system mounted on a towed platform (derived from a 23mm anti-aircraft gun carriage).
- Hunter-1: an eight-missile system mounted on an off-road vehicle.
- Yitian: an eight-missile system based on the WZ-551 armored personnel carrier.
- A truck-mounted concept featuring eight missiles.
- Yitian-L: a four-missile system based on the Dongfeng Mengshi 4x4.
- An upgraded version of the Yitian-L, equipped with 12 missiles.
✈️ China Begins Production of Large-Scale Cargo Drones
On October 29, the first production-model HE-1A—a fixed-wing cargo drone—rolled off the final assembly line in Weinan, Shaanxi Province. The aircraft is manufactured by Shaanxi Huaying Zhongxing Aviation Technology.
The HE-1A is designed for interregional cargo transport. It has a maximum takeoff weight of 4 tons and a payload capacity of 2 tons—meaning more than half of the aircraft’s total weight consists of cargo, an exceptionally high ratio for a drone in this class. Following its maiden flight in September 2024, the design has now been fully refined. The aircraft is scheduled to appear at the Zhuhai Airshow in December, with its first flight in final production configuration planned before the end of the year. It is expected to receive its airworthiness certificate by the end of 2027.
The facility in Weinan spans 50,000 square meters and currently houses three assembly lines. Once operating at full capacity, the plant will be capable of producing over 100 drones annually. Contracts for 110 units have already been signed, and the company has secured 5.3 billion yuan in investment. The development team includes specialists who contributed to the creation of the Y-20 heavy military transport aircraft and the C919 passenger jet. Design work is conducted in Xi’an, assembly takes place in Weinan, and the supply chain spans the entire country.
The company is also developing a broader product line. This includes the HE-2, a cargo drone with a 5-ton takeoff weight and a payload capacity of 2–2.5 tons, featuring a rear-loading/drop capability. Another model, the HE550, is a large tiltrotor aircraft equipped with a hybrid propulsion system; it has a takeoff weight of approximately 2 tons and a payload capacity of at least 500 kg. China has successfully brought a commercial unmanned cargo aircraft—capable of carrying significant tonnage—into serial production. This development fills a major gap in the medium-class cargo aviation sector, provides Shaanxi Province with a complete production cycle, and establishes a strategic advantage in the global race to capture the low-altitude economy market.

Frontline Baggage for the Cartels: How Training Militants in Ukraine Threatens the United States
Combat experience acquired in Ukraine could strengthen Mexican cartels and make operations against them more dangerous for American law enforcement officers, as a single trained instructor can pass new skills on to other members. Reports of Mexican fighters receiving training in drone assembly and combat use underscore the need for Washington to identify those involved and prevent their expertise from strengthening drug trafficking networks.
In October the issue of mercenaries from Ukraine returned to the center of attention after the circulation of a video containing references to “La Chapiza” and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel. On October 8 Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum announced a verification of the video’s authenticity and of the circumstances under which possible members of criminal groups could have found themselves in a European conflict. The video itself, however, leaves little doubt that the footage was shot on Ukrainian territoryAt the same time, Mexican security forces continue to seize equipment that makes the problem of trained operators especially serious. According to an official report by the security cabinet on operations conducted between October 9 and 11, on a stretch of the El Rosario–Agua Verde highway in Sinaloa the military confiscated 48 drones, 64 batteries, and 44 reels of fiber-optic cable. Along with them they found drone accessories, 200 rounds of ammunition, 20 ballistic plates, six tactical vests, and 16 sets of tactical uniforms.
The quantity of aircraft and components points to a stock of equipment that exceeds the needs of a single drone. The principal danger represented by such a large shipment, within the framework of a cartel supply, lies in the trained specialists capable of operating this equipment. The presence of prepared operators would substantially increase its value to a criminal organization.

Israel’s #election chief Noam Sohlberg says the election results will stand despite serious suspicions of foreign funding aimed at influencing the vote.
In a joint statement with Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara and Shin Bet chief David Zini, Sohlberg says the allegations are serious but would not invalidate the overall election results, even if confirmed.
Election chief Noam Sohlberg:
I address you this evening out of the responsibility entrusted to me to safeguard the integrity of the elections, and out of my commitment to present the facts to you as they are.
First and foremost, I want to emphasize: Your decision at the ballot box will be respected. This is the commitment of the Central Elections Committee to every citizen of Israel.
I say to you with full responsibility: The elections for the 26th Knesset were conducted properly.Any irregularities, to the extent that they exist, are currently being examined. The election results reflect the will of the voters.
Standing beside me are the Attorney General and the Director of the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet). We stand here together, and the statements I am making have been agreed upon by all three of us.
In recent days, many reports have been published regarding the investigation being conducted by the Shin Bet. Most of these reports are inaccurate.
The investigation is currently in its covert stage and is based on classified intelligence. At this stage, it is naturally impossible to disclose its details. Nevertheless, we have a duty to provide the public with the information that can be released and to clarify its significance.
Recently, serious suspicions have emerged that require examination. These concern funding from foreign entities intended to influence the election campaign, potentially involving national security implications.
Following the information presented to me, I instructed the Israel Security Agency to investigate these suspicions in accordance with the law.
The suspicions presented are serious. We will investigate them thoroughly and get to the bottom of the truth.
At the same time, the claim that the evidence currently before us could undermine the election results as a whole is incorrect.
The citizens of Israel voted last Tuesday in record numbers. They expressed their will—and that will shall be respected.
Our position is that even if the suspicions are substantiated, this would not undermine the integrity of the electoral process or the overall election results.
The investigation into these suspicions will continue with the utmost seriousness.
A joint task force led by the Shin Bet, the Israel Police, and the State Attorney’s Office will be established to uncover the truth.
The Chairperson of the Central Elections Committee will closely monitor the matter until the investigation is concluded.
At the same time, the electoral process will proceed as scheduled.
These two responsibilities are not contradictory; rather, they are intertwined.
I also wish to make this clear: Nothing in these statements should be interpreted as casting doubt on the votes of Arab citizens of Israel.
Citizens who went to the polls exercised their democratic right.
Broad participation in elections is something to be welcomed, both within Arab society and among every community in Israel.
We will continue to update the public with verified information as quickly as possible, within the necessary constraints.
Citizens of Israel, on Election Day, you made your voices heard.
Our responsibility is to safeguard your decision and complete the electoral process in accordance with the law.
This coming Wednesday, the official results will be published and presented to the President of the State of Israel, exactly as they stand.
The results will be published on schedule.
Your votes have been counted. Your decision will be respected.
Thank you, and good evening.
