Given rising interest in the rapidly strengthening El Niño event in the tropical Pacific Ocean, I've created a one-page fact sheet succinctly describing what El Niño is, this year's (remarkable) forecast, and potential impacts from California to global scales. [Thread]
My personal and professional advice to those in, near, and even (in some cases) outside of known flood zones is to seriously consider obtaining flood insurance this year, since standard policies usually exclude flooding from storms or oceanic inundation. https://t.co/cvHrzi0vRb
@BeschlossDC@gtconway3d My grandfather George Chisler-second from the left and if you skip a person-Richard M Nixon-names at the bottom. The Orthogonian Society, Whittier College.
@tailopez I’m a teacher making 111k and my wife makes 64k at a retreat center. We live in Santa Cruz County and our mortage is $1400 dollars; one kid in college and one in high school. It’s tight but manageable. I would consider ourselves in lower middle class.
@AmericaRecharge Our family is both 🇬🇧 and 🇺🇸. All Brexit did was close our options for my kids education and we were thinking of living on the mainland. I think a bust when it comes to regulations staying in or out of the 🇪🇺. So, definitely 🇪🇺.
@MarioNawfal Let’s support the idiots who got us here in the first place-no thanks. I just did the math for the last two years and I’m about $ 7,000 poorer. Mario show has well informed guess which I appreciate but no more former Fox people-they done enough damage to our country and world.
@volcaholic1@paulp1232@snackpack210@greatfulldead0@peterpans149 Just tell them how much it’s going to cost. I’ve always believed in CC but I didn’t think I would see it in my lifetime at this level. Keep up the good fight. I’ve had to evacuate two times and came really close to losing my house.
@jason61987 I’ve followed Weatherwest for a long time and I live in the SC mountains. Rainfall is coming in higher than NWS estimates in the last ten years. In 1982, a friends property recorded 24” in 24 hours. This year is going to be interesting.
I've got 3 live virtual public events on YouTube scheduled over next 8 days (see recent posts for links):
1) Aug 3, 1p PT: WA wildfire disaster & bigger picture
2) Aug 4, 6p: "Super El Niño Town Hall" (CA Sen. Mike McGuire)
3) Aug 10, 1p: El Niño update: The latest forecast
On Mon, Aug 10 at 1pm PT, I'll host another livestream focused solely on El Niño. I'll offer a deep dive into El Niño's remarkable trajectory to date, the extraordinary latest forecasts, and additional thoughts on implications from California to global scales. https://t.co/gup411JzT2
