King For One Day. A Unique Kalash Tradition π
In the Kalash Valley, Chitral a centuries old tradition is still practiced where one person is chosen as king for a single day, usually for winning a traditional game or showing exceptional skill, strength or bravery during community celebrations.
His orders are respectfully followed and he hosts a communal feast by sacrificing livestock, symbolizing generosity, equality and unity.
As the day ends, the kingship ends but the tradition lives on.
