Exactly. That’s the only consistent position.

You can’t be for unelected private actors auditing government only when it’s your guy. If Elon gets to go through the books because he’s efficient and has data, then Gates gets the same pass when it’s public health or climate money.

Either we want outside efficiency experts with transparency and guardrails, or we don’t want billionaires running parallel governments at all. Bureaucracy can’t have it both ways — “we hate outsiders” but also “we need outsiders because we’re too bloated to fix ourselves.”

I was for the waste hunt too, but the principle has to apply evenly or it’s just team politics.

I get the blackpill feeling, it’s hard not to when you look at the birth rates and how fragmented everything feels.

I actually agree motherhood should be treated like an MVP vocation again. Hungary’s model is interesting, lifetime tax exemption after 4 kids, loan forgiveness, housing support. it’s at least putting money where the mouth is instead of just slogans.

Do you think it would work here though? Their culture around family was never as far gone as ours. I wonder if incentives alone are enough without a cultural shift back to it being aspirational.

Quick trip to Boston this week, and I almost didn’t go.

There was a stack of things on my desk telling me to stay home. But I booked it anyway, saw The Great Gatsby on Broadway in Boston, walked the city in the morning before anyone else was up, and just... let myself enjoy it.

Here’s what running a business for over a decade has taught me. If you wait for the “right time” to take a trip, you’ll wait forever.

The whole reason I can leave is the systems I built to hold everything while I’m gone.
