@BigOunce_225 @GreedLockhardt@AnhurdynPlus@EndymionYT @Ziostorm1 Yes, I agree. I think the worst boss in the series is probably Dragon Rider from DS2, who has a simple moveset, can't counter you standing behind him, sometimes glitches out, and is prone to throwing himself off of ledges.
Are there any bosses like that in the DLC?
@BigOunce_225 @GreedLockhardt@AnhurdynPlus@Punished_Misao@EndymionYT @Ziostorm1 Certainly, proving that something is poorly designed would then require further conversation.
Are the bosses lacking in a number of moves/ IE: Overly simplified?
Are the bosses prone to bugging out, glitching, breaking their AI?
Do bosses often self destruct?
@BigOunce_225 @GreedLockhardt@AnhurdynPlus@Punished_Misao @Baezhd_ @EndymionYT @Ziostorm1 The reasonable conclusion with both of those things in mind is that it's not a design issue, it's a skill issue.
You are skilled at the game, and found it fairly easy.
Others are bad at the game, and found it fairly difficult.
Neither of those things indicate poor design.
@BigOunce_225 @GreedLockhardt@AnhurdynPlus@Punished_Misao @Baezhd_ @EndymionYT @Ziostorm1 You say the bosses are easy because they are poorly designed, therefore bad.
Others say the bosses are hard because they are poorly designed, therefore bad.
So-
@BigOunce_225 @AnhurdynPlus@GreedLockhardt@Punished_Misao @Baezhd_ @EndymionYT @Ziostorm1 Objectively bad mechanics like...?
I genuinely can't think of a single thing in the Radahnn fight which is strictly bad. I'd even say most of it is good considering the context both for gameplay and narrative.
@BigOunce_225 @AnhurdynPlus@GreedLockhardt@Punished_Misao @Baezhd_ @EndymionYT @Ziostorm1 Declaring any one thing to just BE "objectively bad" definitively isn't really... possible in the realm of game design. You can say "over-all objectively bad" but not strictly.
@BigOunce_225 @AnhurdynPlus@GreedLockhardt@Punished_Misao @Baezhd_ @EndymionYT @Ziostorm1 I think DS2 is a pretty bad game at times, but I think declaring a game to be "objectively bad" is... well, an objectively wrong thing to say.
A game can not be definitively good or bad, unless every single element of it is poorly made, which isn't true of DS2.
@BigOunce_225 @Punished_Misao@GreedLockhardt@AnhurdynPlus @Baezhd_ @EndymionYT @Ziostorm1 Lifegems and the abundance of upgrade materials exists to be a buffer to the fact that areas like Earthen Peak and Shrine of Amanna exist.
If you know to exploit the game you can beat it very easily and very quickly but many players will not know this going into it.
@BigOunce_225 @Punished_Misao@GreedLockhardt@AnhurdynPlus @Baezhd_ @EndymionYT @Ziostorm1 I don't think uts accurate to say that Demons Souls and Dark Souls 1 are fair 100% of the time, there are definitely moments where they're just hard for the sake of being hard.
Dark Souls 2 may be ass, but it is still an early Soulsgame and it's a prime example.
@GreedLockhardt@Punished_Misao @BigOunce_225 @AnhurdynPlus @Baezhd_ @EndymionYT @Ziostorm1 ""They were not "LE UBER HARD GAME""
You can tell they haven't played Dark Souls 2: SOTFS. The meme of "LE UBER HARD GAME" is literally built into the opening dialogue and the game spends the rest of the time surprise dropping you into rooms full of difficult enemies.
