Good morning you lovely lot.

Firstly, just another thank you for all the kind words and messages over the last couple of days. I couldn’t possibly reply to everyone, but I have read them and genuinely appreciate every one.

Today though, it’s time to dust myself off, stand tall and start moving forward again.

Last night felt strange because normally the night before a holiday I’d be packing my little mate off for his own holiday with his sitter.

But today is a new day.

I’ll still be sad, of course, but I’m determined not to let that sadness ruin the time off I’ve been looking forward to.

So…

DAY ONE OF 19 DAYS OFF!

Case packed.

Car charged.

And holiday mode is officially engaged. 😂

Right then, normal morning messages resume today, so let’s get back to what we do.

A little Yorkshire history — on this day…

On 26 September 1916, during the Battle of the Somme, men of the 6th Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment played a part in the final capture of the heavily fortified Mouquet Farm.

Much of the German position was underground, with cellars, tunnels and deep dugouts beneath the shattered farm. During the final fighting, No. 16 Section of the East Yorkshires used smoke grenades to overwhelm the remaining defenders, taking 56 prisoners.

A small but remarkable piece of Yorkshire’s military history, and a reminder of the ordinary Yorkshire lads who found themselves fighting in extraordinary and terrible circumstances.

Now, seeing as it’s the weekend, spoil your pets today.

Give the dog an extra cuddle. Take them for that walk. Throw the ball one more time.

Cats are obviously excluded because cat people are already slightly unhinged.

The evidence is right there in Batman Returns.

Michelle Pfeiffer becomes Catwoman and immediately starts dressing in leather, carrying a whip, climbing buildings and generally terrorising Gotham.

If she’d become Dogwoman, she’d have spent the entire film throwing a tennis ball, carrying poo bags and asking Batman:

“Who’s a good boy then?”

Film over in twenty minutes. Gotham saved. 😂

And finally, be kind.

You really don’t know what somebody might be dealing with behind the scenes.

The messages and comments I received this week have reminded me just how much a few kind words can mean.

And for those of you who enjoy reading, I can thoroughly recommend Chinook Crew Chick.

Its author, Liz, was one of the many people who reached out yesterday after seeing my post. She certainly didn’t have to, and I thought it was a lovely gesture.

I’ve also finished the book and can confirm — it’s bloody good.

So thank you, Liz, and thank you again to everyone who took the time to send a message or leave a comment.

Danny Tommo wasn’t granted bail on the grounds that he’s ‘a danger to the British public’.🙄

Yet there are currently illegal immigrants guilty of sexual assault and rape roaming our streets with suspended sentences.😡

All Danny Tommo did was try to prevent more ‘dangers to the British public’ arriving here. 🤷‍♀️

Our justice system is topsy turvy.
