Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company has begun planned maintenance on its Bonga deepwater oil vessel, a move that will temporarily cut Nigeria’s oil export capacity by about 225,000 barrels per day but could extend the asset’s lifespan, the company said on Sunday.

The Bonga Floating Production Storage and Offloading unit, Nigeria’s first deepwater project, located about 120 km offshore in water depths over 1,000 metres, can also produce up to 150 million standard cubic feet of gas per day.

SNEPCo Managing Director Ronald Adams said the work – covering statutory inspections, regulatory checks, major integrity upgrades and engineering modifications – was designed to keep the facility running safely and efficiently for another 15 years.

“We expect to resume operations in March following the completion of the turnaround”- Adams said.

Shell Companies in Nigeria on Thursday announced plans to invest US$20 billion in the Bonga South West oil project

It is Estimated to hold almost 1 billion barrels of oil 🤯, Shell Bonga South West may require one of the largest FPSO ever built with topsides to weight 35,000 to 40,000 tonnes.

According to the conclusions of thefront end engineering and design (FEED), Shell Bonga South West FPSO should have capacities of:

 – 225,000 barrels per day (b/d) for oil processing
 – 270 million cubic feet per day (cf/d) natural gas processing 
 – 2.5 million barrels of oil storage
 – 400,000 b/d of water injection

@OpeBee Bonga SW should be somewhere deep offshore Delta state because it is in the west of the current Bonga field, which is in deep offshore between Bayelsa and Delta states. I used to fly close to an hour from PH to Bonga FPSO and 2hrs from Lagos.

Bonga South West isn’t in South West, Nigeria.

Also called OML 118, is a big offshore field located within the Gulf of Guinea.

It’s hard to really say what state it falls under but I’d say between Bayelsa and Rivers.

Within the field, we have had two more discoveries ( Bonga North and Bonga South West).

The field is said to have a reserve of over 6 billion barrels of crude oil.

Last exploration and discovery was in 2004( Bonga North).

I have met three of the wealthiest men in Nigeria and Africa, who are all dollar billionaires, and one common thread I found in each of them is simplicity. In dressing, speech and action. I also learned the following things from them:

Gain control over your money in your youth, or the lack of money will make others gain control over you in your old age.

How you spend your time affects your net worth more than how you spend your money.

As a Palestinian who refuses to parrot our leadership’s lies, I have to say it bluntly: Telling Mizrahi Jews - Jews from Iraq, Yemen, Egypt, Morocco, Syria, and the rest of the Arab world, that they are doing “ethnic cleansing” to us is the gaslight of the century.

Let’s start with facts. Mizrahi Jews didn’t “come from Europe.” They lived in the Middle East for thousands of years, long before Islam, long before Arab conquest, long before any modern state. Their ancestors spoke the same ancient Hebrew mentioned in the Qur’an’s stories, they prayed facing Jerusalem, and their communities in Babylon, Damascus, and Sana’a existed for over 2,500 years. They are as indigenous to this region as the olive trees, as native to the Middle East as we are.

When Arab states turned against them in the 20th century, after Israel was established, they were ethnically cleansed: homes looted, businesses seized, citizenship revoked, synagogues burned, people lynched. Nearly a million Jews were expelled from Arab lands. Most fled to Israel with nothing.

And now, decades later, our leadership dares to call them the colonizers? The same families who were driven from Baghdad, Aleppo, and Tripoli - who rebuilt their lives from refugee camps in Israel, are accused of committing the same crime that was done to them. That’s not just hypocrisy; it’s historical amnesia.

If we truly want justice, we have to stop gaslighting our neighbors and start acknowledging that their story is Middle Eastern too.
Our liberation won’t come from denying theirs.
