Why don’t they just tokenize the oil in the Middle East and transport it across permissionless financial rails, thereby avoiding the Strait of Hormuz altogether
@cullenroche@iddqd_usa A central bank can not nominally run out of money but they can run out of money in real terms, (we are not anywhere close to this in the US which I assume they are talking about) but there must be a limit to the practicality of money printing, or why not just do more?
@cullenroche The same pros and cons of investing $100 biweekly into a robinhood account when you have a $500,000 mortgage (I’ll even assume you are a good investor -which I am not prepared to say this wealth fund will be)
@EpsilonTheory Do people really not understand that the idea of a sovereign wealth fund while simultaneously being 30 Trillion in debt is kind of like the American with 100k in student loans and 20K of credit card debt opening a robinhood account and depositing 100 biweekly?
The Canadian government could launch a full scale home building initiative to make up for lumber exports simultaneously stimulating the economy, solving the housing problem and giving Canadians something to rally behind. I’m not optimistic that will happen…
@EpsilonTheory This isn’t a gotcha I’m genuinely curious how very long run (not short and medium term dissipated by globalization) is not a money supply issue, we can export inflation other places as we don’t have a closed economy but I’m curious on your thoughts
@GestaltU Is anybody actually saying there is logic behind the tariffs? And that imposing economic pain on your neighbors would somehow make them in a better place to fund border security? He wants to look powerful, and knows while America would hurt we would hurt more
@GestaltU I wonder what the correlation is between people who don’t want bonds right now and people who think Mortgage Rates are going to keep coming down
