@goodgoy77795244@RandyHorka@Ersin0X Christian’s exist outside the Bible too buddy. It’s a holiday we started celebrating a few hundred years after Christ. And since it was scriptural to do it, we kept doing it.
@MagnusonBrettA@lbeers37@TomBuck@JonnyRoot_ Yes I was specifying that’s the time when an unordained person can perform baptisms. Extenuating circumstance, like if you’re martyred before baptism your death is deemed a “baptism by blood”
Nerdy theologian problems lay people don’t need to worry about.
@lbeers37@MagnusonBrettA@TomBuck@JonnyRoot_ The people who wrote the Bible would have something to say about people who use the Bible with absolutely no recognition of history
@lbeers37@MagnusonBrettA@TomBuck@JonnyRoot_ I mean scripture. Christians wrote creeds to prevent people from coming up with interpretations of scripture contrary to what was passed down. Being a “creedalist” means I believe Jesus is actually Lord unlike those who make up their own cults.
@lbeers37@MagnusonBrettA@TomBuck@JonnyRoot_ You shouldn’t be picking and choosing which things from scripture you want to follow or respect.
There is “emergency baptism” and yes anyone can perform those if the new believer is dying.
@lbeers37@MagnusonBrettA@TomBuck@JonnyRoot_ You need to start differentiating when you say “from a biblical standpoint” you actually mean “how I choose to interpret the Bible from where I’m standing”
@lbeers37@TomBuck@JonnyRoot_ The part where people are being baptized by Apostles, i.e., appointed (by Jesus) leaders of the church, they’re called bishops today.
