@MattersInformed I was an apprentice in late 80s. First year wage approx £40 per week, average cost of a pint £1.20. So you could buy 33 pints with that wage.
2026 same apprentice now earns £300 per week (min wage £8 / hour) Average cost of a pint approx £5, same apprentice can buy 60 pints.
