189000 journeys on Paris’s Vélib bikeshare yesterday, including 100000 on the electric bikes in their fleet. Vélib has recovered spectacularly after a painful operator change in early 2018, and has also held its own against the rise of escootershares in the French capital.

This is incredibly sad news. I knew Russell for the last 10 years. He is largely responsible for bikeshare being my research “passion” & encouraged me to think globally & turn BikeShareMap from just a few cities to 500+ there now. He will be hugely missed. Condolences to family.
