I lost an 5 year friendship over £120.
We went on holiday to Morrocco with a group of 8. I covered the Airbnb and meals (those airmiles though), and we tracked everything.
My mate and his girlfriend owed me £500. They paid £380. Then they ghosted the reminder. The following year, same trip, same story, different excuse.
It wasn't that they couldn't afford it, it's that asking became so awkward I just stopped asking. And then I stopped wanting to see them at all.
That's when I realised the problem isn't stingy people. It's that money in group situations creates friction before anyone even realises there's a problem.
So we built Halfsy. It's a shared virtual card everyone links to Apple/Google Pay. When the card gets tapped at dinner, everyone's share auto-deducts in real-time based on what you'd already agreed. No tracking, no chasing, no transferring, no guilt.
Works the same way for flatshares. Set up a household Halfsy card and bills split automatically when they're due. Like having a joint account without actually having one.
We're looking for 100 early testers in the UK right now, and we're offering anyone who joins the waitlist £10 in Halfsy credit.

Has anyone else lost a friendship over small amounts of money?
Curious if this is just me.
@lottsnomad Bee following you since xpo days, and that’s the key advice I’ve taken from you. That’s why I started building a waitlist even before finding my technical co-founder. The waitlist made it easier to get a co founder on board
Growing a B2C audience and waitlist is a very time consuming effort. I’ve tried TikTok but producing content isn’t my strong suit but I’m trying to learn what my audience wants and then I can hire content creators.
Reddit has seen the most success but the moderators are sharks. What’s the best way you’ve found to grow a waitlist
@Kodakuyz2 Thanks, hopefully it helps stop the awkwardness between friends and flatshares when it comes to bills. Would you like to be part of our beta tests?

@amasad I can’t wait to get that high of the first customer. I got a mini hit when our waitlist hit 100 in a day but it’s probably nothing compared to getting first paying user
As a founder you’ll forever chase the high you got from your first customer.
Luckily I get contact high from talking to Replit builders going through it everyday.
