🇱🇺 is proud to have joined Lighthouse, the Global Protection Fund.
Together, we help to ensure that human rights defenders everywhere receive the protection they need to do their important work that make our societies more just, equitable and peaceful. https://t.co/FWfrxsaMrF
At a critical time for the protection of human rights defenders, Front Line Defenders is proud to be a partner of Lighthouse, the Global Protection Fund, launching today.
Lighthouse is a new, multi-donor fund that is committed to moving resources to human rights defenders at the local, national and regional level who need it most. Lighthouse will deliver this support through organisations who already support HRDs and their critical work, such as Front Line Defenders.
At a time when resources are shrinking and threats are growing, this Fund renews donor commitments to protection and sends a strong signal of support to human rights defenders at risk globally.

I'm amazed this is not getting more coverage.
On Friday and over the weekend police officers raided the homes of around eight young people active in Youth Demand, a non-violent organisation which campaigns around climate change and Palestine.
This is in the wake of, and in addition to, the much publicised raid on a Youth Demand welcome meeting at a Quaker meeting house last Thursday night when 6 young women were arrested.
A number of these young people live with their parents, who describe receiving visits from 8 police officers who conducted highly intrusive searches of their homes.
The young people were arrested. A number were held overnight before being released on bail. Their electronic devices and other possessions have been seized.
This is an astonishing over reaction by the police.
Please publicise.
One thing about a prominent section of the Western left: they are every bit as Eurocentric and Western supremacist as the establishment they claim they oppose. Neither party can imagine non-western agency, or agency in any terms other than the ones they set.
War in Sudan has been raging since April 2023.
Famine and disease is rampant and 12 million people have been forced from their homes – the highest figure for any conflict in the world.

WE DIDI IT!
In a major BDS win for human rights activists against financial institutions complicit in Israel’s 76-year-old regime of settler colonialism, apartheid and now genocide, French multinational insurer @AXA was forced to sell its investments in all major Israeli banks.
These banks are considered the backbone of Israel’s illegal settlement enterprise on occupied Palestinian stolen lands. The global “Stop AXA Assistance to Israeli Apartheid” campaign targeted AXA’s investment in Israeli banks and Elbit Systems for their complicity in Israel’s illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank, which constitute war crimes under international law, and for other grave violations of Palestinian human rights. The company faced divestment pressure, reputational damage and a consumer boycott campaign.
This is also your win. You were one of thousands to call for #AXADivest and #BoycottAXA, ending your contract with the brand. You protested outside AXA offices and organized disruptive creative actions at every AXA shareholders’ meeting. You sent thousands of tweets, emails and letters to AXA CEOs, calling out AXA’s hypocrisy. As Israel’s live streamed genocide against 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza continues, it is hard to celebrate anything other than an end to the genocide and the beginning of justice.
AXA is not off the hook, though. Amidst Israel’s live streamed genocide in Gaza against 2.3 million Palestinians, the coalition will continue to monitor AXA’s investments to make sure it is not complicit in the ongoing genocide. Watch this space!
Btw - the United States of America is currently sitting on millions of doses of smallpox/mpox vaccine. With contracts in place to 'replenish' their smallpox preparedness vaccine stock (it was depleted by the 2022 mpox outbreak) while many countries in Africa are without access.
Unbelievably, people with insecure immigration status are *still* expected to attend in-person reporting, despite far-right attacks.
Along with so many others, we're calling for in-person reporting to be suspended:

🗣️Inconsistent support leaves survivors vulnerable
Worryingly, thousands of modern slavery cases are 'repeat referrals', according to data we shared with The Guardian
Exactly why "survivors must be *guaranteed* support" as soon as they come forward:

We call on general election candidates to support survivors' rights to:
🔴 Recover - with meaningful support
🔴 Be seen - by removing harmful restrictions + evidence thresholds
🔴Be counted - in support + justice stats
An Israeli-American started making friends with Palestinians after the October attacks. It's changed the academic's whole perspective on the war - and the future
