Trump wants to use the Navy to build $10B worth of migrant detention camps.
Let me get this straight: we "can't afford" to invest in public programs that make housing or healthcare more affordable — but we have endless funds to detain migrants and enrich defense contractors? https://t.co/9nJLUFEQi6
Let’s be clear:
Donald Trump has the power to ensure 40 million people don’t go hungry during the shutdown.
But he wishes to inflict the maximum pain on those who can least afford it.
He won’t fund food.
But he’s happy to build a golden ballroom.
During the shutdown, Trump could find $40 billion to bail out Argentina & $300 million for a ballroom to host dinner parties with billionaires, but he won’t tap emergency funds to prevent millions of American kids from going hungry?
How cruel is that?
Trump says there’s no money to pay federal workers, but he’s spending:
$20 to $40 billion to bail out Argentina
$300 million on his vanity ballroom
$172 million on two luxury jets for Kristi Noem
Hundreds of millions for outfitting his foreign jet
Republicans shut the government down.
Air traffic controllers aren’t getting paid.
Americans are getting notices that their health care premiums are going up.
But Trump's government is helping corrupt Argentinian presidents with a $40 billion bailout.
Trump is throwing 15 million Americans off health care.
He's doubling premiums for 20 million Americans.
Now, he's refusing to use a $5 billion emergency SNAP fund to keep 16 million kids from going hungry.
But the 1% keep $1 trillion in tax breaks.
Oligarchy in action.

The hysterical wife of the detained alien follows around and confronts the ICE agent who repeatedly tells her “adios” then two hand pushes and shoves the woman to the ground in front of her children. Court security is brought to remove the woman
Trump promised to cut costs “on day one.”
Instead, thanks to Republican policies and Trump’s chaotic tariffs, the cost of groceries, utilities, housing, health care, and school supplies have all gone up.
A Republican government shutdown only adds to the economic chaos.
Donald Trump is weaponizing the DOJ against his political opponents.
Meanwhile, he's gutting the Justice Department’s Public Integrity Section which assists U.S. attorneys’ offices around the country with investigating crooked government officials.
"Drain the swamp."
We are witnessing the rise of two very separate and distinct Americas:
One for the billionaire class. One for everybody else.
Our country is not supposed to be run by a handful of wealthy oligarchs while a majority of people struggle to afford the basic necessities.
Everyone who spoke up against Trump’s censorship of Kimmel showed that the First Amendment is not for sale.
But the fight isn't over. Trump won't stop pressuring media companies to erode free speech in exchange for secure mergers and regulatory favors.
We must keep fighting.
We have people in power making broad claims around certain drugs and autism that have been continuously disproven. The degree to which those comments can undermine public health, do harm to women who are pregnant, create anxiety for parents who do have children who are autistic – is violence against the truth.
Donald Trump forced out a respected U.S. Attorney because they wouldn't go along with Trump’s demands for political prosecutions.
Less than a week later, his inexperienced handpicked successor brings charges against a member of Trump's enemies list.
In my almost six years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, I never witnessed such a blatant abuse of the department.
The DOJ is now little more than an arm of the president’s retribution campaign.
Trump has made an estimated $3.4 billion in profit from his presidency.
As he rakes in cash, he’s also picking Americans’ pockets by pushing chaotic tariffs, gutting Medicaid, and giving tax cuts to billionaires and corporations that rip off consumers.
What an abomination.
🚨 BREAKING: James Comey posts a video statement following his indictment
"My family and I have known for years that there are costs to standing up to Donald Trump, but we couldn't imagine ourselves living any other way.
We will not live on our knees, and you shouldn't either.
Somebody that I love dearly recently said that fear is the tool of a tyrant. And she's right. But I'm not afraid. And I hope you're not either.
I hope instead you are engaged. You are paying attention. And you will vote—like your beloved country depends upon it, which it does.
My heart is broken for the Department of Justice. But I have great confidence in the federal judicial system.
And I'm innocent. So let's have a trial and keep the faith."
