To fellow pastors who are leading politically diverse churches:
•Some people will be upset no matter what you say or choose not to say.
•Manage your own emotional functioning.
•Lean on friends for support.
•Listen for Jesus’s voice.
•Model curiosity.
You’re not alone.
A great review of my new book—out today!—from @DanielKWilliam4: "I wish that I could have given my grandfather a copy of Daniel Silliman’s One Lost Soul."

Sometime in the 24 hrs since @Cole_Hocker won the Olympic Gold 🥇 in the 1500M, you might have heard that he ran a 4:36 mile as an 8th grader…
BUT did you know that when he did, he DIDN’T EVEN WIN that middle school race?!?!!🔥🔥🔥

Faith and birding is pretty much the perfect intersection for me (unless you can shoehorn soccer in there, too), so I was happy to review the new book from @courtneyellis, a pastor and birder with excellent reflections on birding through grief: https://t.co/QxgTAa8DPB @ERBks
Coming this June from @ivpress.
@ChrisSmithIndy and I have been working hard on a fully revised, fully retracted 10th anniversary edition of the @SlowChurches book.
Some questions about the Bible and politics are really complicated and difficult.
Whether or not you should publish a Bible with a copy of the Constitution, Pledge of Allegiance, and Declaration of Independence in it is not one of them.
Here's the final four. Salvation by Allegiance Alone got pummeled in the last matchup and bounced, but that was to be expected. Honored to get a mention anywhere near such a list.
I really appreciate this from @drmoore and @CTmagazine:
“Hypocrites and demagogues have always been with us. What every generation of Americans have recognized until now, though, is that there is a marked difference between some leaders not living up to the character expected of them and leaders operating in a space where there AREN’T expectations of personal character.”
