One of the best short pieces I’ve read on the future of church in N America. Thank you, @RevMichaelWoolf!
(And yes, a nice plug for the Slow Church book in there… 😁)

If you have questions about co-living, how it connects to life in the neighborhood, etc., hit up John over at @johnepattison. Consider subscribing to the channel too, if the content sounds interesting to you! https://t.co/cm6jUJq01Y
"Slow Church" coauthor @johnepattison has launched a new project. His family and their housemates recently started a YouTube channel about co-living and intentional community. Here's the latest vlog: https://t.co/ztak1n4n7A
In addition to more vlogs, future videos will be about what co-living is, what makes it beautiful, what makes it challenging, what makes it practical, how it saves the families money, how faith shapes the community, why it’s an option for more people than may realize, and more.
Instead of measuring a church by its attendance & budget…
Let’s assess it by the quality of community that disciples people to love well; a culture that equips individuals to have a 1st hand life w/God & a commitment to work for healing in all areas of life in the way of Jesus.
Peter heard the gospel from Jesus himself, in the flesh, and only understood it fully several years after the resurrection.
It takes time for the truth to sink in and for the lights to go on.
So, be patient with others.
Let me tell y'all why I'm so passionate about kids in church:
making churches safe and loving communities for messy, loud, wiggly children is a direct confrontation to our obsession with power, status, productivity, efficiency, and control.
I’m so sick of hearing Christians talk like our standard as Christ followers is to be “biblical”.
We were never ever called to behave “biblically”.
We are called to be CHRISTLIKE. We are called to be LIKE GOD.
End rant//
For now.
Christian nationalism replaces the worship of Jesus with the worship of political power.
Christian nationalism is accepting Satan’s temptation of Jesus, when he showed him all the kingdoms of the world and said “all this I will give you if you will bow down and worship me.”
