Not making light of the situation at all, but this just goes to show how stupid everybody blaming the WBC is for Edwin Diaz’s injury. If it can happen in the WBC, it can happen in spring training. Hope Brandon Nimmo’s okay and that it’s nothing serious.
The World Baseball Classic is just as big, if not bigger, in other countries as the Super Bowl is in the United States. Think about that before you have your little hissy fits about the games not mattering and teams needing to forbid their players from playing. It’s a pretty big fuckin’ deal.
“I understand how Mets fans are hurting. But while for so many people the regular season is what counts, playing in the WBC means just as much to all of us. It is the dream of every Puerto Rican ballplayer to wear Puerto Rico’s colors and to represent our country. And not only Puerto Ricans, but every player in the WBC considers being here the ultimate honor."
~ Francisco Lindor on Edwin Díaz's injury and what it means to play for your country in the #WorldBaseballClassic.
THIS IS SO COOL
Duque Hebbert, the Nicaraguan pitcher who struck out Juan Soto, Julio Rodriguez, and Rafael Devers in the 9th, signed with the Tigers org following today’s game.
