Any book club communities on here that read cool books. I wanna join one but obviously want to read interesting stuff. Currently reading my first Dostoyevsky book and Iโve fallen in love
@NoahRyanCo Iโve been drinking mate ever since Argentina (the real kind) and had an epiphany that itโs so different from coffee. Think I like it better actually
I put google sheets on my phone home screen and at used a timer to track. Just added up my total for June and it was almost 30 hours of pure listening to Spanish. Very happy
Most have it backwards. Listening to your target language (even when you don't understand) often should be the primary method of learning. While grammar learning, flashcards, etc should be supplemental. Think about how you learned your first language. It's important to keep track of how much time your clocking in to feel like you're making progress
Always throw out random compliments or statements to strangers. Worst case scenario they donโt acknowledge you - best case scenario you form new connections and relationships. People open doors
Give your mind a break. From people. From phones. From the constant hustle of life. Spend some alone time just with yourself. Do nothing. Be bored. Stare at a crack in the wall. Look out the window. Watch how shadows move. Listen to a piece of music that's 300 years old. Read Hegel. Read Aristotle. Read Dostoevsky. The minds that are still relevant today. Slow down enough to experience things deeply again. Don't consume something just because it's trending. Be loyal to your own curiosities. Your own interests. Your own idiosyncrasies. If you want to live a life that feels alive, protect the parts of yourself this world keeps trying to distract you from.
