🚨🎙️ | Wayne Rooney on the controversial decisions in the UEFA Champions League Final:
🗣️ “People will celebrate PSG winning the Champions League, and fair enough, but deep down everybody knows Arsenal were on the wrong side of some shocking decisions.
That Madueke incident? If that happened to PSG, the referee points to the spot in two seconds.
You cannot convince me otherwise.
VAR was introduced to stop robberies in football, yet somehow Arsenal still got robbed on the biggest stage in club football.
And the worst part? By next week people will forget the decisions and only remember who lifted the trophy.
That’s football unfortunately.
I’ve seen finals decided by moments, but this one felt decided by fear from the officials. Nobody wanted to make the big call for Arsenal.
If Arsenal had gotten that penalty, the pressure changes completely. PSG panic. The momentum shifts. The entire story of the final could’ve changed.
But once again, Arsenal were expected to just accept it and move on quietly.”
Just watched the game back. Yeah, the referee needs investigating. I thought some of his decisions were weird at the time, but from the moment he gave us a corner and then decided to blow for half-time, some questions need answering.
Mosquera got booked within a minute of the restart, without a warning. Saka getting booked for winning the ball. Timber being penalised for turning his man. Every 50/50 went against us, he would award PSG a free kick minutes after waving play on for the same tackle against us. As for the Madueke tackle. I’m speechless.
I'm not surprised though when Qatar are in bed with UEFA and they are PSG's sponsor.
You can buy referees, you can fix matches, you can hide agent fees, you can breach all FFP rules but you can't buy either loyalty or respect because they are not given. THEY ARE EARNED
🚨 NEW: Arsenal are set to appeal to UEFA following their Champions League final loss. Mikel Arteta is furious with several decisions including what he believes should’ve been a clear foul for a penalty on Madueke.
Y no pocas. Tanto a nivel financiero como a nivel arbitral. Estos hijos de puta lo tienen comprado todo.
Not an Arsenal fan at all but they were robbed. From the moment the second half kicked off the referee was shocking towards them. It setup PSG’s momentum & made it tougher than the game already was. Something was said to him at HT 100%. Even talking to Gabriel before that penalty
@MusialaEra After watching this game, I was shocked they had the balls to do this in Munich. I knew Arsenal had no chance of getting any decisions in the final. Football has to stop the influence of refs in the game. Give the managers a chance to challenge and initiate VAR reviews.
🚨🎙️Wayne Rooney: “Arsenal have been robbed tonight” 🤯
Rooney 🗣️ “I’ll be completely honest, Arsenal were absolutely robbed tonight, there is no other way to put it. You look at that foul on Noni Madueke in the box; it’s a stonewall, 100% clear penalty. How the referee or VAR hasn't given that is beyond me, and it completely changes the dynamic of a Champions League final.
But for me, the moment that truly gave it away the moment you knew exactly what the referee was doing was that halftime whistle. To blow the whistle right as Arsenal are literally standing there about to take a corner? I’ve played this game a long time, and you rarely see that unless there’s a blatant bias. It was shocking, and it set the tone for everything that followed.
In the second half, it became a totally different game, and not because of the football. The referee made absolutely sure that every single 50/50 call, every little nudge, and every major decision went straight to PSG. It completely killed Arsenal’s momentum. But to be fair, I’m not even surprised. We saw the exact same story when they played Bayern Munich earlier in the tournament. The officiating was heavily skewed then, and it’s happened again on the biggest stage.
PSG might be lifting the trophy, but they cannot honestly look at themselves in the mirror and be proud of the way they’ve won this final. To win the biggest prize in club football like that? It leaves a horrible taste. Arsenal deserved so much more tonight.”
