Just returned to the UK after spending 7 amazing days exploring the beautiful Island of #Madeira & sampling some of it's fabulous food - so my Twitter feed will be filled with photo's of my adventures & meals, over the next few days! #MadeiraIsland#Travel#GlobetrottingGrandma
Just stayed at the Allegro Madeira Hotel, Funchal & I highly recommend it! 👍
🍸🍹The rooftop cocktail bar is a great place to spend the evening listening to music, whilst watching the sun go down over the ocean!

@triona50 Thank you so much for replying Triona!
From what I can already tell from the introduction, it's a wonderfully written life story of a truly remarkable woman.
Once I've read it in full, I'll do a book review blog post & add a link for the book on https://t.co/4qhCybccqJ
I've just bought this wonderful book by @triona50 on Kindle, so I can discover more about the life of #JoanRhodes for a future blog post. After reading the introduction, I can already tell that this will be a fascinating & beautifully written biography of an extraordinary woman.
@HerRhetoric I visited the Trapp house when I was in Vermont a few years ago. Yes, after escaping Austria, they went on musical tours, and then finally settled in a ski resort in the US & began a business. Maria & her husband look nothing like Julie Andrews or Christopher Plummer either 🙂
Q: We've all seen the classic musical film #TheSoundOfMusic but what happened to the real #MariaVonTrapp?
A: She settled in Vermont, USA with her husband & family & The Trapp Family Lodge, became a successful hospitality business, welcoming visitors from around the globe.
@KaraDiDomizio How wonderful. I only went there the once, but the food was really amazing!👍
It was a beautiful Autumn in New England & I was on an American / Canadian road trip travelling from Boston to Toronto via Vermont & Niagara Falls.... in a convertible Mustang! 😎

I have loved discovering #History on my travels over the years - especially when it's combined with #Food! The famous #UnionOysterHouse in #Boston, USA, was established in 1826. The Kennedy's had their own booth & the exiled King of France gave language lessons here! #Travel
@Lissa_Johnston @pdtoler No me neither...I wish there had been more room to add that personal opinion about the very problematic nature of the disguise, on the original tweet!
Seriously ????? 😲😲😲
When the man making up the rules for you & your entire country, during global pandemic, says "nobody told him" having a massive drinks party in his back garden was "against the rules", I really do think the world has gone completely stark raving mad and..
In honor of #BettyWhiteBirthday, today's #ootd is this evening dress she wore in 1957. Sadly, I could not find any info on it, but I just can't get it out of mind! It has the fashionable New Look silhouette with ultra-feminine colors and materials. Gorgeous! #fashionhistory
This pair of Yuki geta, or snow geta, come from Hokkaido, Japan. Geta are a form of elevated sandals traditionally worn in Japan. This pair features clog-like toe covers with fur trims, which would have provided protection in chilly weather. #museummonday
