A must-do activity whilst visiting the amazing Island of #Madeira is to take a ride on the @FunchalCableCar up to Monte.

The scenery is spectacular & the views are totally breathtaking.

I've just bought this wonderful book by @triona50 on Kindle, so I can discover more about the life of #JoanRhodes for a future blog post. After reading the introduction, I can already tell that this will be a fascinating & beautifully written biography of an extraordinary woman.

@HerRhetoric I visited the Trapp house when I was in Vermont a few years ago. Yes, after escaping Austria, they went on musical tours, and then finally settled in a ski resort in the US & began a business. Maria & her husband look nothing like Julie Andrews or Christopher Plummer either 🙂

Q: We've all seen the classic musical film #TheSoundOfMusic but what happened to the real #MariaVonTrapp?

A: She settled in Vermont, USA with her husband & family & The Trapp Family Lodge, became a successful hospitality business, welcoming visitors from around the globe.
