The family of Matilda, the 10-year-old girl killed in Sunday’s attack, addressed the crowd in Bondi on Tuesday night.

Her father, Michael, said he wanted the crowd to know what a “beautiful person” she was. “Her name was Matilda because she was our first Australian,” he said, holding a framed picture of his daughter.

“We came here from Ukraine … and I thought that Matilda is the most Australian name that can ever exist. So just remember the name, remember her.”

“Civilian heroes” Boris Gurman and Sofia Gurman have been identified as the latest victims in the Bondi Beach terror massacre after footage emerged of them running towards danger and wrestling away a rifle from terrorist Sajid Akram.

Boris, 69, and Sofia, 61, Russian-speaking Jewish immigrants who died beside one another as likely the very first of Akram’s victims, remembered by their family for their “bravery and selflessness”.

Total incompetence and neglect by #PeabodyHousing. After 4 years still not completed basic repairs to roofing cladding and windows. Criminal costs spent on scaffolding now causing rubbish, vermin and attracting graffiti.

@cathitza We’ve been in a similar situation with damp around windows but for about 5 years. It took windows actually falling out of our building and nearly killing residents & reported on ITV before @PeabodyLDN chose to act. Even then it has still taken over 18 months to replace windows
