@KristinaJessen Not surprising that our attention is then on what feels good (or avoiding what feels bad). A great book in the trait/state literature that grapples with this is Paul Blooms "Against Empathy". Those who are empathetic/agreeable also act 'immorally', but their motivations differ.

@KristinaJessen I think of it in a temporal perspective. Seeing a therapist, dieting, disciplining your kids. All feels bad in the moment, but can be vital to long term positive outcomes. Evolution may have favored solving immediate rather than long term problems as they were more pressing.

With a fantastic group of students, @camillabl96 and I have trained a Transkribus model that reads the millions of digitised newspaper pages from the 18th and 19th c. in the Royal Library with an error rate of about 0.5%. The existing OCR errs about 50% of the time. Try it out!
