@wellbeingEyears @AutZebra The other day I was getting ready to eat dinner and had an unpleasant exchange. The hunger and desire to eat vanished just like that.
@AMaSpaceRobot @mykola @Neurodiversit19 That is wonderful news! It’s v hard to do on your own, I hope you realize how well you’ve done! 💜 I’d love to talk nice to myself, but can’t bc of my childhood and all the mistakes I make on a regular basis. I hope to one day meet a therapist who can get through. Trauma blows.
@Mangalang1 @AutZebra I need to watch something, too! At first I thought it was the misophonia (I hate even my own chew sounds), but then I remembered being a kid and reading during meals every chance I got. I can do without, but I’d end up eating less, and I’m underweight.
@mykola @Neurodiversit19 I’m actually listening to that! I’m only halfway through ch 4 though; it’s taking a bit as I’m not always in the right place for facing the info. Do you know if there is anything worth picking up that is more recent? Wondering if anyone incorporated the latest findings etc.
@mykola @Neurodiversit19 How? Most cases of recovery I hear are from people who had a relationship with enough positive regard to heal them. What if you don’t have that? Are the inner critic and toxic shame considered the same thing?
@DavidJackson1st I’m talking about you, David. You stated Max is not the only expert, and questioned twice if they really know more than you, clearly implying you have greater knowledge. I am inquiring about your background/qualifications. Lived experience, degrees, etc. Kindly respond.
@DavidJackson1st @MaxieMoosie @TruthAutistic I can see why you feel so strongly about your position, David. I must ask— why are you so sure you know more about this topic than someone else? Genuinely asking.
I’m just super excited over the possibility of improving a huge source of pain. Scapulothoracic bursitis and/or dyskinesia or some else related to instability. Not “just knots” that have been tormenting me for over a decade.
This week I internalized the knowledge that doctors have limits. They might not know why you hurt, and patients think that must mean it’s unknowable and forever. Do the research. Find someone with even more experience in that body part. #chronicillness
@Saichukan @NeggguuyMinaj @grumpyshrubbery The air fryer is a wonderful appliance for quick, crispy anything! But, I always forget to clean it right away, so I have a lot of guilt AND caked on grease that won’t go away despite endless soaking and (non-stick-friendly) scrubbing. So it sits unused, taunting me.
@Arpita0506@ItsEmilyKaty Some of it isn’t even about being *over* sensitive; anyone else would feel shitty if they were judged and bullied all the time! A lot of it comes down to society singling out anyone “different”. Yet NTs extol the virtues of being individual. I really don’t get it.
@LaakawEesh@ItsEmilyKaty 100% agree. I remember being 11, was alone in the school bathroom looking at the mirror and saw a hair sticking out. I pulled it, thinking if my hair looked ok, they’d pick on me less. That developed into trichotillomania, going on 26 years now.
@autistintheroom @ItsEmilyKaty@QueerlyAutistic My kid is preschool age; I don’t want them to get traumatized! Idk what all goes on at school bc of his speech issues. How can I protect him?
@LeksiW@chromesthesia@PaulWhiteleyPhD I always wondered why people called me poser etc in grade school. In hindsight, I was masking and was far from my authentic self. Maybe they could tell. Idk.
@VelvetinaB @PaulWhiteleyPhD Even undiagnosed girls learn to hide their autism, bc of how we are socialized. Life like that traumatizes us into submission until we can no longer carry on…
@gadeaiglesias@PaulWhiteleyPhD I’d love to see the research on that, though I have a feeling I know what the data will say. Give a shout if participants are needed…
