'Why Shadowdark instead of other deserving games?' I dunno, there will always be a top dog, for whatever reason. I've seen people that do similar stuff to me be more successful than me. I saw a guy kickstart a 30 page pdf adding guns to 5e once, and make 6 times more money than my 200 page project.

No point worrying about it. Just focus on your own stuff.

Years back, I had drinks with a larger RPG YouTuber. They confided they didn't even like 5e, but that's where the clicks were, so they focused on 5e content. I get it, but found it sad to be so close to a dream job in your hobby but having to fake it.
