Been a while posting. I was thrilled to emcee the campaign launch for the ‘more for you, better for Auckland’ team because I want to get behind those who fight for energy justice which means reducing high power bills! Vote 10-23 October. More info here

At the town hall this morning hearing from local boards in workshops with my governing body colleagues, giving their input on the council budget. Some really strong examples of why local board funding matters and should be reinstated. Hope our Local Boards share this publicly.
I’m packing my grab bag in case I need to leave my home over this weather event. After seeing what the floods did, I’m nervous to own anything too valuable that can’t be digitised/memorialised or just own too much in general. Weird feeling.
Excited to be helping out with this tomorrow using my 14 years as a consumer law expert for Ministry of Consumer affairs, I did a quick read up on tenants rights and can offer advocacy help since that’s what I’ve been doing with Kainga Ora and MSD today.
To everyone who didn’t vote in the last election but are complaining about our mayor, what do we need for you to vote in the next local election? A petition of over 20k signatures calling for the mayor to resign has been going around. This is sad to watch.
It only takes the initiative of people in the community checking up on their neighbours and doing what they can for flood relief, the drill is visiting homes and rallying together a response. Get in touch or get involved with Minister Woods relief team.
Pulling damaged goods from peoples homes and seeing what is essentially their lives “dumped” on their front lawns was awful. The only thing I had to smile about was working alongside others who just put their heads down and were united in purpose.
If you want to help out get in touch it only takes the initiative of people checking up on their neighbours and doing what they can, Or do me a solid go drop some essential goods to relief centres. They are particularly scarce on feminine hygiene products and bathing supplies.
