One thing gambling taught me is how quickly your perception of money can become distorted.

I lost $14 million in two months.

Then I did the math.

Someone earning $100,000 a year would have to work 140 years to earn that much before taxes.

At some point, $14 million stopped feeling like money.

It became just another number on a screen.

Only after losing it did I remember what that number actually meant.
