This is Varthur Main Road, Bangalore

A major route used by thousands of people and school kids every day, connecting several societies in the area to Whitefield.

From many years, the road has been in terrible condition with huge potholes, loose gravel, dust, broken streetlights and poor maintenance.

And when it rains, it gets even worse. Water filled potholes and muddy stretches make the entire route dangerous to travel.

A simple question to the Bengaluru municipality, why has a major road used by thousands every day been ignored for so long?

People are dealing with traffic, dust, mud and potholes every single day and some are getting injured because of the road conditions.

This needs immediate attention before the situation gets even worse.

Today my daughter’s school bus took 2 hours to travel just 2 km in Varthur/Gunjur road.

For those 2 hours, I sat there as a parent feeling completely helpless.

I work hard. My wife and I pay lakhs in taxes every month. We took a huge home loan mainly so we could live close to our daughter’s school and give her a safer, easier childhood.

And yet, this is what “2 km from school” means here.

In the last year alone, we have seen a school bus topple, a woman suffer serious injuries after a fall, a biker almost lost his life after falling because of a pothole, and many more incidents that never become headlines.

Every day, ordinary people here tweet, email, complain, follow up and plead with authorities.

We are not activists.
We are not fighting for a political party.
We are parents, employees, families and taxpayers asking for one basic thing:

Please give our children a safe road to come home on.

Today, more than the traffic, what broke me was the feeling that despite doing everything a responsible citizen is supposed to do, I had absolutely no power to protect my own child.

If anyone knows how ordinary citizens of Varthur/Gunjur can reach someone with the authority to actually intervene, please help us.

कुमार विश्वास राम कथा के अनन्य वाचक हैं। वह अनन्य रामभक्त हैं। न द्रव्य, न बल, न सत्ता का मोह, न किसी तरह की लिप्सा! कुमार विश्वास बनना आसान नहीं है। कुमार विश्वास जैसे गीतकार सदियों, सहस्त्राब्दियों में एक बार आते हैं। उनके जैसे वाचक देखा है? कितना स्पष्ट उच्चारण है उनका!

कुमार विश्वास कवि इसलिए बने कि उनसे भगवान श्रीराम ने एक दिन चिरौरी विनती की। साक्षात उपस्थित हो गए। भारी व्यस्तता थी लेकिन कुमार विश्वास उनसे तुरंत मिले। अपने गॉर्ड को झटक दिया! उसने रामजी से पूछ लिया था कि क्या काम है?
"तुम्हें पता नहीं है कि यह भगवान श्रीराम हैं!" ऐसा कहकर उन्होंने गार्ड की तनख्वाह आधी कर दी थी उस दिन।

कुमार विश्वास जैसे कवियों के कारण ही देश में सनातन बचा हुआ है। वह रोड़ा नहीं जोड़ा करते, घोड़ा लेकर निकलते हैं और संस्कृति का मार्ग मोड़ा करते हैं। मैं यह थोड़ा कह रहा हूं, लेकिन सच यही है कि जो कीड़ा मकोड़ा हैं, वह भगोड़ा हैं।

I received an invite from the Ministry of Finance, and I thought it was spam.

I looked into the email after 15 mins

It said, "Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) of India wants to talk with you"

I still couldn't get it

There was a landline number mentioned in the email. I called up and asked if this was a conference or something I was being invited to.

They said the CEA wants to talk personally and hear the story. And could I come to Delhi.

I said yes. He also wanted all the economists in his office to be part of it.

This is the team that puts together the Economic Survey and the country's economic policies every year.

I flew to Delhi and met the CEA and his team.

I shared my journey into deep-tech, drone policies and Indian manufacturing, in the context of my previous drone startup Airdonex and my current startup @ProcurioIndia

They listened carefully to every challenge we have run into, and were genuinely interested in what founders need from policy.

We concluded with explaining what we are building at PROCURIO, that we are on a mission to set a new benchmark for how anyone can source and manufacture from India.
