After 3 years of being a digital nomad, I’m stopping.

Living out of a suitcase across countries sounds like the dream until you realize that it drains your energy, wrecks your health, and caps your momentum.

Here is the honest truth about nomadism, the lessons I learned, and why you should consider building a fixed home base :

1. The travel high wears off, health damage doesn't.

I spent years sleeping on misaligned time zones, waking up early, working late, and running multiple projects at once. My stress levels were through the roof. Last February in Italy, a severe stomach virus and heavy antibiotics completely ruined my gut. It was a massive wake-up call. I had to reset everything: no caffeine, no junk food, a strict sleep schedule, and physical training.

2. Constant friction burns your daily energy.

When you’re a nomad, simple things become exhausting. In many places, you can't walk outside safely, there are no pedestrian paths, and the environment works against you. Rediscovering basic daily rituals, like taking a clean walk, enjoying solid architecture gave me a massive boost. You need an environment that energizes you.

3. Stop punishing yourself for an aesthetic.

It makes zero sense to keep living with a single backpack in uncomfortable setups just for the label of being "nomadic." You work hard to build a lifestyle you actually deserve. Expecting your environment to elevate your mind is basic operational efficiency.

4. Real luxury is multiple fixed bases, not living out of a bag.

The real flex isn't hopping from Airbnb to Airbnb forever. It’s having the freedom to own two or three high-quality, fixed properties and a main base in Spain, a house in Latin america, maybe something in Asia, and moving seamlessly between them whenever you choose.

5. You don't need to be everywhere to close deals.

When you're just starting out, you go to places like New York to force opportunities but once your business is solid, everything is built and closed online. I travel for intent now, not because I'm chasing ghost opportunities in high-density cities.

I don't regret those 3 years, they built my grit but true growth means knowing when a chapter is done.

Now the question is... Where should I fix this home base ?
