@SolWielkop@NoLongerTheFuzz That’s interpretation. I think it’s a totally fair one, btw. But amongst all the furore, I think it’s important to play with a straight bat. Especially if you value the truth above all else.
@NoLongerTheFuzz Again, you’re misrepresenting what he’s saying. You don’t need to, because his own embellishments are enough. But he does not say he played semi professional games with Crystal Palace. He said he went on to play semi professional games. The way it is said is perhaps clumsy.
@NoLongerTheFuzz@sodhuxley Yes, but the details matter. He’s not saying he played semi-professionally or professional for Crystal Palace. He’s saying he was in the youth setup until he was 18. In your haste to further eviscerate him you’re doing yourself a slight disservice by not getting the facts right.
@NoLongerTheFuzz@sodhuxley Around 19:18. He says he was at a professional club, then at 18 went into semi professional games. He validates this later by talking about how he wasn’t good enough and played non-league. If you’re not familiar with football it’s easy to mishear, tbf. But the details matter.
@sodhuxley@NoLongerTheFuzz But it’s some irony when people are misrepresenting the details of what he’s saying and embellishing the truth of the matter.
@sodhuxley@NoLongerTheFuzz That is consistent with another YouTube video I saw today, where he also says he played “semi” professionally i.e. Non League. He doesn’t stretch to say he was on the snooker pro tour either… of course, what he says still may not be true,
@NoLongerTheFuzz@sodhuxley He clearly says semi-professional games, let’s not over do it. He says he was at Crystal Palace in the youth setup and not good enough to make it as a professional.
@afneil A lot of the flack you’ve got here appears to be rooted in politics, ageism and generational bias. It’s just an opportunity to criticise someone who’s older, successful and “establishment.” It’s criticism that reeks of entitlement.
