It was extra cold in the parking lot last night after a few waves at Outer Pool — you can tell by the looks on their faces 🏄♂️😄 always frothing nonetheless🔥😃
Tomorrow, the Orange Rocket lines up at Race2Hermanus, starting at 07:00.
Akhona shares how he stays focused, calm, and driven in the days before a big race.

We’re kicking off something special 🌊✨
Welcome to our new series: “Meet the Surfer Kids🏄♂️" — a weekly drop where you’ll get to know the young surfers in our programme beyond the waves. Each episode features a short interview and a surf clip, showing who they are in and out of the ocean.
For our very first episode, we’re featuring Inam Falteni, who has been part of The Surfer Kids family for the past 4 years 🤙
From early mornings in the water to growing up through the programme, Inam’s journey is one we’re excited to share with you.
Watch, get to know him, and stay tuned for more stories from our crew next week 🌊🏄🏾♂️
After completing the @MyFirstBitcoin_ Diploma, many Bitcoin Ekasi students were not ready to stop learning, so we reopened our doors for them to continue their Bitcoin education at a deeper level.
Students now progress through books such as The Bitcoin Standard by @saifedean and Inventing Bitcoin by @skwp. After completing their reading, our teacher @Rotso16Rotso uses @ChatGPTapp to generate a postgraduate-level assessment highlighting how powerful modern learning tools have become.
Students who achieve 80% or higher are rewarded with $50 worth of sats. These rewards are sponsored by the @BitcoinMoonFund, and we are grateful for their support in making this initiative possible.
So far, out of five students who have continued on this advanced learning path, one has completed The Bitcoin Standard and is now actively involved in our library program. Additional books available in the program include Why Buy Bitcoin by @edstromandrew and The Internet of Money by @aantonoup.
Some students are also beginning to think about life after school, showing growing interest in technology, business, and community-focused work. While many are still exploring their paths, there is early curiosity around Bitcoin-related opportunities especially in education, onboarding, and local adoption work.
There are also potential pathways within Bitcoin-focused organisations working in financial inclusion and grassroots education, such as @afribitcoiners and @fedibtc, which may align with some of their interests.
To build on this further, we can continue engaging students with questions about what subjects they enjoy most, whether they plan to study further or enter the workforce, and whether they can imagine themselves working in Bitcoin, entrepreneurship, or community development in the future.

11 year old Avethandwa Mosikare has been working incredibly hard, putting in the effort both in and out of the water. Although he didn’t get the result he was hoping for at The O’Neill Cold Water Junior Classic, he showed flashes of just how talented he is. Good luck Ave🔥🏄♂️🤙
Spare a thought for our friends in Mozambique.
Cyclone Gezani has wreaked havoc and Tofo was particularly hard hit.
@bitcointofo does not currently have electricity or internet access, but, with assistance from @BitcoinFamba they've set up a channel for donations through a local coconut-oil producing factory near Tofo.
The BoaGente factory was recently on-boarded to accept Bitcoin as payment, they have generators and therefore back-up power.
https://t.co/Pan7ByezES
The factory workers are all Tofo residents and while no-one wants to see disaster hit, this may be an opportunity to see the power of building Bitcoin Circular Economies in action!

Summer might be small and a little onshore around here, but that doesn’t stop the stoke! 🌊🔥
Azonwabe, Sibulele, and Lithabo making the absolute most of every little ripple at their local break. Smiles, saltwater, and pure surf joy — that’s what it’s all about!
Winter swell, we’re ready when you are… but for now, we ride everything!
💙🏄♂️ #SurferKids #GromLife #StokeIsHigh
Strategically on-boarding new places so that when the @abcptza post-conference road trip pulls into town visitors can explore the wider Mossel Bay area and still pay with sats!
This is Carola Ann's, delicious food! And happy to be paid in Bitcoin!

Important meeting today with the civil engineer and architect, one step closer toward realizing the new Ekasi Center.
But when it comes to dealing with government, the name of the game is patience.
We're making progress, but it's taking longer than we had hoped. Frustrating, but no surprises there.
The latest is there's a good chance our proposal will be tabled at the next council meeting, 27 March 2025.
Today's meeting was to make adjustments and preparations for final submission of supporting documents, for the council's consideration.
More details on what we're aiming for here:

Hugely proud of this dude, @LuthandoSABTC !!!
On stage at the @AfroBitcoinOrg
If you knew where he came from, and how far he's come since then, you'd be proud of him too.
But, rather than me tell you his #Bitcoin story, I suggest you ask him yourself. Next time you get a chance.
He'll speaking be at @AdoptingBTCcpt and @PlanBElsalvador, both in January 2025.
Today, I had the pleasure of meeting Marcelo from Mozambique 🇲🇿. Despite not having a bank account, he's found a way to innovate and empower his business. Marcelo now accepts Bitcoin payments at his barbershop.
Africa needs #Bitcoin, and #Bitcoin needs Africa
@BitcoinEkasi
The Executive Mayor of Mossel Bay, Dirk Kotzé, made his first #Bitcoin transaction yesterday.
We didn't just build a skate bowl.
We built a reason for anyone (and everyone) from the surrounding community, South Africa, and wherever else to ask (and learn) "Why #Bitcoin?"
Learning about #Bitcoin was an eye-opener for me. There are two distinct periods of my life, one before Bitcoin and one after Bitcoin. I see things completely differently today. Who can relate? 🙌
