A Bitcoin Diploma graduate in Kenya learned how money works, then went home to start Bitcoin Makueni and teach the community. Students becoming educators: that's how this spreads. [link]

@afribitcoiners@AfribitKibera We have about 10 more interviews from Kenya and Uganda in the next two weeks. But we are also releasing the documentary from Indonesia plus 10 interviews from this region. Probably good content for the next watch parties 🎉
🎬 Today’s Watch Party Wednesday was a success!
We watched @MyFirstBitcoin_'s documentary and explored how the women of @AfribitKibera, Kenya, are turning unwanted clothes into bags, dolls and crochet wear while earning and saving in Bitcoin.
Here are our key takeaways:
→ Education builds trust. Independent Bitcoin education helped turn scepticism into understanding.
→ Financial access matters. Bitcoin offers an alternative for people who face barriers to opening traditional bank accounts.
→ Spending makes Bitcoin real. Being able to earn, spend and receive sats helps people understand Bitcoin as money.
→ Bitcoin creates opportunities. Women and teen mothers are learning to earn, save and plan for their children’s future.
→ Circular economies start locally. Waste collectors, boda boda riders and upcycling women are connected through a growing local economy.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined, shared their perspectives and contributed to the discussion! 🧡
The lesson? Real adoption grows through education, practical use and opportunities that solve everyday problems.
Until next Wednesday, Bitcoiners! 🧡
How far are we with the Diploma Program?

A big thank you to Arnold Hubach, David, and Alex from My First Bitcoin for leading this insightful session.
One chapter at a time, we’re building a stronger Bitcoin community through education and practical knowledge.

🇨🇩 Empowering women through Bitcoin education in the Democratic Republic of Congo!
Meet Mwasi na Bitcoin — meaning Women and Bitcoin in Lingala — a women-led education community founded in Goma, DRC, in April 2025.
In a region where access to traditional banking services has been severely disrupted, financial education can make a real difference.
Through hands-on workshops, Mwasi na Bitcoin teaches women how to use Bitcoin, secure their wallets, make payments, and protect themselves from scams.
👩🏾🎓 More than 160 women educated so far!
And they're just getting started.
Their next goal? Expand across the DRC and empower more women to become Bitcoin educators in their own communities.
This is what grassroots Bitcoin education looks like.🌍

Three months into learning Bitcoin, Viola was already teaching it in Kenya. Now Satoshi 53 brings it to artists and her community. This is how the movement spreads.

Felix Mukungu (@MukunguFelix) lost money to crypto scams before he ever taught Bitcoin.
Then he started sharing a nine-chapter Bitcoin course in a WhatsApp group.
That course grew into The Core (@thecore21m). Today it runs a free Bitcoin Diploma on the @MyFirstBitcoin_ curriculum. Four intakes a year. 24 sessions each. Every graduate leaves with a certificate and 500 sats.
The first cohort graduated 10 people. The sixth graduated 137.
643 have finished it so far, 520 of them from Kenya. The rest come from 27 other countries, from Zambia and Nigeria to the USA, Canada and Afghanistan.
Some graduates started new projects. Others took what they learned back to projects they already ran. Among them: @bitcoingithurai, @BitcoinSchoolKe, @EcoBitz_21m, @btcafricastory, @yesbitcoinhaiti, and many others across Africa and beyond.
In Githurai, the Nairobi settlement where Felix once lived, The Core has onboarded 16 merchants. Boda riders, food vendors and shops. Students travel there to spend their sats. Some days the merchants see zero payments, while some days they see nine.
In April, The Core's unconference in Nairobi drew more than 500 people. About 80% were youth with over 18 local Bitcoin projects presented.
It started in a WhatsApp group.
In Kenya, moms are learning to save in Bitcoin for their children's future and to spend it in their own community. Bitcoin education is already spreading, person to person.
