If you're around Jakande Underbridge in Lekki, be careful of a scam that has reportedly been going on for years.

A stranger approaches you and asks for the location of a lottery office or where to claim some winnings. It sounds harmless. That's how it starts.

Before you know it, another "good Samaritan" joins the conversation and offers to help. They appear to be strangers, but they are often working together.

They engage you in conversation, gain your trust, and create a sense of urgency. Some victims later say they felt unusually confused or unable to think clearly.

By the time the victim realizes something is wrong, their phone, ATM card, cash, and even banking details may already be gone.

Many people describe the experience as being "jazzed." Whether you believe it's spiritual manipulation, psychological manipulation, or both, the outcome is the same: valuables disappear.

One of the strangest parts of the story is that victims are sometimes told to drink salt and water afterward and that their stolen phone will somehow come back.

It never works.

The lesson is simple:

• Don't follow strangers.• Don't discuss money or lotteries with random people.• Never reveal your ATM PIN.• Walk away the moment something feels off.
