@AyrtonMcCartney@CountDankulaTV "Today's Mad Lads are a group of unemployed short people, an immortal archer with superiority issues, a bloke who talks to trees, and a pensioner who decides the safest place for a magical weapon of mass destruction is in the hands of his mate's nephew."

@belief_engineer Try wrapping your sub sandwiches for about 5 minutes before cutting into them. This allows flavors to marinate together. Also season your veggies on sandwiches and salads. A little salt, pepper, oregano goes a long way with a nice balsamic or oil and vinegar.
This is a classic case of the Devil you know.
I spent 18 years miserable and absolutely destitute because the fear of missing one meager paycheck and the blowback that would incur didnt justify my own happiness.
I have a good friend who’s essentially stuck in place.
Has a degree in a decent field, but refuses to move past the full time retail job he hates & has to work weekends for.
Has a girlfriend that he has unresolved differences with, so they aren’t moving towards marriage (which they both want), but they are both also too afraid to break up.
I’ve talked to him about both things, and he’s not happy with either situation, but every time I try to encourage, confront, or urge him to move forward, he either goes, “Yeah… you’re right” & then does nothing, or he gets defensive.
I’ve even told him that I’d sit together & resume-build & apply for better jobs, & he always brushes me off.
So now whenever he complains about either, I just don’t say anything, even though it annoys me that he’s not moving forward.
I don’t know. I’m assuming you guys have either been in my shoes or have been where my friend has been. Anybody have any insight? I feel like my only option is to just not care about it anymore, & I have a hard time accepting that.
@RuneK2015@Variety I think what's being said is that the influence is there. But its in all story telling because the superhero, is an extention of the hero. Which is indeed, a trope.
@RuneK2015@Variety Right, I dont disagree, but I can see where the groundwork for modern heroics obviously were influenced by mythos and larger than life stories in history.
Marvel literally uses a version of Hercules and Thor and Kanchu. DC has Vandal Savage who's supposedly been every bad guy.
@RuneK2015@Variety But really the trope that gave heed to superheroics is essentially timeless and was born out of a combination of what had to be creativity, hardship and/or oppression having a baby.
And from all accounts Gilgamesh has about 1500 years on the Old Testament.
@RuneK2015@Variety I mean let's look at it in plain terms. The Odyssey was written supposedly in the time period between the old testament and the new testament. If seemingly average people doing above average things is the metric, then the old testament supersedes the Odyssey by a good 500-700yrs
