Budget stole $156.71 from me on my first trip to the US. Not one scam — two.

I'm a Chinese tourist. Prepaid my whole California rental, full insurance. At pickup I told the agent "no extras, please." He smiled: "yeah yeah, sign here."

My English handles daily life fine — but a legal contract in 2 minutes? He knew I couldn't read that fast. That's WHY he rushed me. I signed… and found a $98 "roadside assistance" charge on my bill. My insurance already covered it. $98 for nothing.

Same agent told me my contract had a DATE, no time — so "late" doesn't exist. He even asked "sure you want to return in the morning?" — like I could keep the car all day. Return: no damage, full tank. He highlighted $0.00 — "you owe nothing." I was relieved. Then… $156.71 charged behind my back. No notice.

I complained. Budget said: "you signed it." I don't accept that — that's the signature he TRICKED out of me. "Sign here," don't read. And here's the thing: his lies were never on paper. "No extras" → $98. "No time" → late fee. All SPOKEN. A native English speaker couldn't have stopped that.

I've asked @Budget for a refund. But honestly the money isn't the worst part — I trusted them.

Hi Dee, I've already contacted you — case 10406901, several emails back and forth. You said you're handling it, but so far all I've gotten is "wait 3–5 business days." Nothing substantive. And you yourselves offered me a 15% discount — would a company that did nothing wrong offer a discount? That 15% is proof you know you're at fault. What you owe is the full $156.71. Stop pretending this is the first you've heard of it.
