“The world will not change until we change it.” — Late Dr. Paul Farmer
Earlier today, First Lady Mrs Jeannette Kagame, together with Mr Bill Gates, Founder and Chair of the Gates Foundation, joined Paul E. Farmer #ButaroDialogues on Health Equity and Innovation, hosted by @ughe_org and the @coms_africa, in partnership with the Gates Foundation.
The Butaro Dialogues is a biennial platform that brings together global health leaders, innovators, investors, policymakers, African academic institutions, and the next generation of health professionals in Rwanda to turn research and new ideas into better, more equitable healthcare.
This inaugural edition focused on one of today’s most urgent priorities: closing the gap between proven innovations and their implementation in maternal and newborn health.

Minister @nsanzimanasabin and Minister @MusoniPaula hosted @BillGates at Rwanda’s National Health Intelligence Center (NHIC) to showcase how centralized, real-time data is transforming healthcare delivery across the country.
Since its launch, NHIC has unified national health data to shift public policy from reactive to proactive—delivering concrete impact across the entire care continuum by:
⏱️ Reducing patient wait times at health facilities;
🚑 Streamlining emergency dispatch and ambulance response times;
🛡️ Elevating disease surveillance and containment;
🎯 Optimizing targeted resource allocation.
Looking ahead, partnership with the @GatesFoundation will enable NHIC to scale its operations—expanding capabilities toward predictive health intelligence to anticipate outbreaks, issue intelligent early-warning alerts, and prevent health threats before they escalate.
By leveraging modern technologies and consolidating national health data, Rwanda continues to strengthen its ability to deliver high-quality, efficient, and responsive care for all.
Minister @nsanzimanasabin accompanied @BillGates to Mwulire Sector to meet Community Health Workers, visit Mwulire Health Center, and tour the TKMD Syringes Manufacturing Plant—showcasing how technology and primary health investments are transforming care in Rwanda.
They met representatives of the backbone of Rwanda's health system: Community Health Workers, who are delivering care at people's doorsteps. In Mwulire alone, CHWs provided up to 65% of malaria screenings and up to 82% of malaria treatments over the last six months. The rollout of community EMRs further empowers them with real-time digital reporting and eliminates paperwork.
They also visited Mwulire Health Center, which brings essential services to 37,000+ residents, and TKMD, a Rwanda-based manufacturer of auto-disable syringes that exports to multiple countries through @UNICEF .
Rwanda's health gains are built on strong partnerships—where local leadership and global collaboration come together to improve lives.
Three young people. Three completely different starting points. One common future.
A female racing champion in a male-dominated field. A former FDLR child soldier who returned home to rebuild his life. A 25-year-old police officer who rose through hard work despite humble beginnings.
This is what post-1994 Rwanda strives to be: a country where you are not the hostage of the past, and where the role of our institutions is to create the conditions for every young person to dream, rise and serve.

“I hear what is popular among young people these days: vibes. I have nothing against good vibes. Vibes are not just for young people. Even those of us who are older can enjoy them. But if we are going to enjoy the vibes, we must have something solid to stand on, please. Don’t invest in vibes, invest in the foundation where you can now vibe. Because if there is no foundation, it won’t last.
We want things that are sustainable. We want to build a society that is resilient. You can’t built a society that is resilient on vibes. But a resilient society can vibe.” President Kagame, Chairman of the RPF | RPF Bureau Politique.

Madame Celeste Amarilla,
The 1st HOME to renovate is your BODY
The science is simple: most chronic diseases are largely preventable through healthy daily habits:
- Move 1 hr/day (or 10,000 steps)
- Eat mostly whole foods
- Sleep 7-9hrs- aim for bed before 10pm
- Drink 2–3L of water
- Get outside daily

Happy Liberation Day!
Today, together with representatives from the Rwanda Defence Force, the Rwanda National Police, and local government leaders, Minister @nsanzimanasabin joined the people of Nyaruguru District at Munini Hospital to conclude the 2026 Defence and Security Citizen Outreach Program (COP2026).
Similar outreach activities took place across the country, with leaders joining communities in different districts, reflecting our shared commitment to serving citizens.
As we celebrate #Kwibohora32, we honor the women and men in uniform whose courage liberated our nation and laid the foundation for the peace, security, and development we continue to build together.
Thirty-two years ago, Rwanda stood at one of history’s lowest points. Today, these numbers show what hope, unity, resilience, and long-term vision can achieve.
We honor those who fell during the struggle, and our greatest tribute is to keep building a stronger 🇷🇼
