The mask mandates were lifted (somewhat), but now our new normal is indelible. Our children are intermittently forced to mask, quarantine, and get tested. Arbitrary rules are imposed on them. Laws are being passed to uphold future restrictions on their rights.
Cruel and deranged.
children in poor, urban NJ will never be free of this. Their schools have all but crumbled to the ground. There is no compassion or dignity in these schools; and no one even cares.
@DrAllenMcMillan Shame on you always.
Passaic has nearly a dozen bars, none of which will be subject to a mask mandate.
Effective tomorrow, 4-year-olds will be forcibly masked in speech therapy while adults down the block gleefully get drunk in packed maskless bars.
On the eve of 2023!!
We have learned nothing.
@RyanMarino ok. now do dr. gandhi, who has been treating patients for decades. keep discrediting the people whose opinions you happen to dislike, because you have no substance for your own opinions.
@TRyanGregory Covid-19 has been reduced to a flu/cold; 95% of the U. S. pop has immunity. What do you realistically want from ppl at this point? Most of the global population including the most left-leaning Nordic countries disagree with you; have you considered maybe it is you who is wrong?
@ThoughtsShots @snarkypeds Coronaviruses do not weaken the immune system. Nor does any other respiratory virus. It would be easily evidenced on lab work in people who have had Covid previously if that were the case. Read an actual book.
@banter44 @snarkypeds until it kills my kids? LOL. they have each had Covid twice. It was an extremely mild illness for both of them both times. sorry!
@sarahbeth345 they'll never understand that mandates do not work and will backfire in an erosion of public trust.
common sense recommendations and empathy work much better than demonizing those of us who do not live in (or claim to live in 😉😉) a constant state of extreme paranoia.
@snarkypeds if your response to the question is that we re-commit to the human isolation behaviors that eventually resulted in this mess, then we don't want to ask you "what can we do to help?"
How about getting kids their usual vaccines and staying home when sick? Common sense.
@snarkypeds Misinformed by what? My actual career and education? I live in the most densely pop'd state in the country and work for a large hosp system. I have the numbers. Our ped units are NOW full with *non-Covid* resp viruses. Go back to med school, illness is a bldg block of immunity.
Brilliant article in Common Sense
the @AmerAcadPeds failed children during the pandemic by putting politics ahead of evidence
They did a 180 on schools to spite trump, but cost kids
They lied about evidence for masking kids
Apparently part of a pattern

@EricTopol infection in and of itself raises one's blood sugar, too, thereby proving my previous point that it simply leads to diagnosis of a pre-existing but unknown DM2.
@EricTopol covid does not cause diabetes. interacting with healthcare entities thru having had covid illness may pick up previously undiagnosed diabetes.
@mollistan No. It waters down the severity of autism. It is cruel when normal, functioning adults who are a little quirky and get overwhelmed by big crowds call themselves autistic.
