@foi_requests @Ask_foradoctor @rcpsych@YouTube This is below the belt. OTs have a wide range of expertise, and you know it. Using denigrating language like this is uncalled for and doesn't add value to the debate. I agree with the original tweet. OTs shouldn't be the first port of call but are valuable MDT members.
Functional Electrical Stimulation is recommended in The National Clinical Guideline for #stroke for the UK & Ireland (2023):
โPeople...unable to exercise against gravity independently should be considered for adjuncts such as FES, to support participation in exercise training.โ
@HistoryOt@AOTAInc I do agree somewhat with #1 but a big piece of Occupational therapy intervention that seems to be forgotten is "Process Training ", so pegs etc..have their place as a small part towards a functional goal. Much like the 4 pronged approach to Cognitive Rehab.
'You come out of it feeling better and stronger, it lightens the mood. They're miracle workers.'
Great to see the value of occupational therapy being promoted in this article from @nottslive. ๐

Do we have any further information as to why the AMPs course was suddenly pulled a few years ago? I always wanted to be trained in it, and I was shocked that it was suddenly unavailable. #OTs#OccupationalTherapy#AMPS#OT#OccupationalTherapist
This week celebrates OT Week. Occupations are any activities that we do in our everyday lives and are usually divided into self-care, productivity and leisure tasks. We help people get back to doing the things that matter to them @theRCOT#OTWeek23#occupationaltherapist#OT
1/ The sheer depths of Downing Streetโs wretched incompetence, arrogance, narcissism & macho posturing revealed this week shock precisely no-one who worked in the NHS during Covid.
Let me remind you (as I did at the time) what those early hellish days of Covid were like for us.
@theRCOT#OTHacks is very reductionist of our profession. For a profession that struggles to get the wider public and other health professionals to understand what we do & why we do it, simplifying it down to life hacks doesn't give us much credibility. Please do better @theRCOT
