Emergency crews are responding to a serious boating incident at Chatfield State Park after a person reportedly suffered a traumatic leg amputation involving a boat propeller.

According to initial dispatch traffic, the injured person is being transported by ambulance. Responders are searching the water for the severed limb so it can be preserved on ice. Radio traffic also indicated the vessel involved is being seized as evidence, and occupants, including children, are at the north boat ramps.

This is a developing incident, and the information is based on initial dispatch traffic. The extent of the victim’s injuries and the circumstances leading up to the incident have not yet been officially confirmed.

The NC State Court of Appeals just ruled that 65,000 ballots in the 2024 election for a NC Supreme Court race should NOT have counted.

This was an election where a Democrat won by only 734 votes.
