Senator Dr Olusola Saraki and his son, Senator Dr Bukola Saraki.
Father: Senate Leader 1979-1983
Son: Senate President from 2015 to 2019.
Father and Son both Medical Doctors.
Dr Abubakar Olusola Saraki, on the left in white, was born May 17, 1933 in Ilorin.
He first attended Breadfruit Memorial School in Lagos, then Eko Boys High School. Because the school did not offer science at that time, he finished at Reverend Lucas College, Lagos. He then travelled to England for his higher studies.
He attended Regent Street Polytechnic and Woolwich Polytechnic for his A levels between 1952 and 1953, then entered the University of London from 1956 to 1959. He completed his clinical training at St George's Hospital Medical School, London, graduating as a House Surgeon in 1962.
He also obtained the Licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians and Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons, England.
On his return to Nigeria, he worked as a medical officer at the General Hospital Lagos and Creek Hospital Onikan, Lagos.
He later left government service and started a private hospital with his colleague the late Dr Ikomi, the Saraki Ikomi Hospital on Creek Road, Apapa, Lagos, which stood for over fifty years.
In 1979, he was elected Senator for Kwara Central in the Second Republic and became Senate Leader under the National Party of Nigeria.
His son, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, born December 19, 1962 in London, followed the same medical path.
He attended Corona School Victoria Island Lagos, then King's College Lagos from 1973 to 1978. He went to Cheltenham College in the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1981 for his High School Certificate.
He then entered London Hospital Medical College of the University of London from 1982 to 1987 where he obtained his M.B.B.S London. After that he worked as a medical officer at Rush Green Hospital, Essex, and as Senior Casualty Officer at the Royal Free Hospital, London, before returning to Nigeria in 1989.
He later became Special Assistant on Budget to President Obasanjo, then Governor of Kwara from 2003 to 2011, Senator, and from 2015 to 2019, the 13th President of the Nigerian Senate.
@POwohunwa@comrade_MUB@Dammie_Dammie Bro, judging his whole tenure based on a short stay years ago doesnโt give you the full picture. Saraki brought KWASU, the aviation college, cargo airport, and solid reforms. No governor has touched his record in Kwara since then.

@instablog9ja It would have been better if they had banned the company outright. But in my country, once money is offered, they may accept it and set them free.
NAFDAC Seizes Counterfeit Alc%holic Packaging Materials Worth Over โฆ200 Million In Aba, Abia State
The National Agency for Food and Drยฅg Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has seized counterfeit packaging materials worth over โฆ200 million and sealed five shops at Old Court Road Market in Aba, Abia State, over suspected production and supply of packaging materials for f@ke alc%h%lic beverages and other products.
The operation, conducted by NAFDACโs Investigation and Enforcement Directorate following credible intelligence, uncovered counterfeit labels, corks and packaging materials bearing brands including Jameson, Glenfiddich, Four Cousins, Lordโs Dry Gin, Imperial Blue, Goya Oil, Chelsea, Squadron and Seamanโs Aromatic Schnapps.
A NAFDAC official described the discovery as alarming, saying some materials were so sophisticated that even original brand owners might struggle to distinguish them from genuine products.
The official also alleged that packaging materials for sachet alc%h%l, which has been banned, were still being produced and concealed in the market.
NAFDAC said its operatives encountered threats and resistance from traders during the raid, making the evacuation of the materials challenging.
The owners of the five shops were absent, and the premises were placed on hold to prevent interference with materials remaining inside.
The agency said the Market Union Chairman pledged to help secure the premises and ensure the shop owners were identified and presented to NAFDAC.

When you say you hope something will happen, it means you are not completely certain that it will.
PBAT knows exactly what he is saying. Personally, I believe Kwara may vote for Tinubu in the presidential election, but I am not entirely confident about the outcome of the other elections, especially the governorship and legislative contests.
That is the point PBAT is making. There is a difference between being confident about winning one election and being certain that your party will win across the board. The signs are not the same everywhere, and I believe that is what he is trying to communicate.
